House GOP leader to Rush: Back off By: Jonathan Martin January 27, 2009 04:32 PM EST

Rush Limbaugh may command a large following, but his caustic comments Monday about the GOP’s congressional leadership have one of the House’s leading conservatives defending his colleagues and offering an unusually candid critique of the talk radio powerhouse and his fellow commentators.

Responding to President Obama’s recommendation to Republican congressional leaders last week that they not follow Limbaugh’s lead, the conservative talkmeister said on his show that Obama is “obviously more frightened of me than he is Mitch McConnell. He's more frightened of me, than he is of, say, John Boehner, which doesn't say much about our party."

Rep. Tom Price, who heads the conservative Republican Study Committee, did not take kindly to this assessment in an interview with Politico Tuesday.

“I think that our leadership, Mitch McConnell and John Boehner, are taking the right approach,” Price said. “I mean, it’s easy if you’re Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh or even sometimes Newt Gingrich to stand back and throw bricks. You don’t have to try to do what’s best for your people and your party. You know you’re just on these talk shows and you’re living well and plus you stir up a bit of controversy and gin the base and that sort of that thing. But when it comes to true leadership, not that these people couldn’t be or wouldn’t be good leaders, they’re not in that position of John Boehner or Mitch McConnell.

**I ripped up yet another RNC request for money.**

Haven’t gotten one of those since the time they called, and I used language that would make a Drunken LIBERAL BLUSH. After this last election (and my nose stopped Bleeding from holding it so hard that I could vote for SARAH and the other Rino).
Told them after the Election, I would become an INDEPENDENT CONSERVATIVE, and I HELD to my word.

As for future elections, if the GOP continues to prop up such POOR EXCUSES for Candidates... My vote and I will be going FISHING!!!

“But when it comes to true leadership,.....”

If we had any “true leadership”, we wouldn’t be in the mess we find ourselves in today.

Tom Price was for amnesty, so he is dead to me.

Seriously... is there some kind of drug in the D.C. water system?

It is called the RINO virus. It infects almost all republicans who cross inside the beltway of DC and seems to wear off when they cross back outside to fool report to their constituents.

Excellent response from Rush, and what most of us would have said ourselves!

Amazing....and I didn’t think it was possible for the Republican leadership (I use that term loosely) to be more out of touch with the base than they already are. The Bamster must be laughing himself silly...that is if he’s not too busy raising my taxes and getting rid of our spy satellites...but I digress.

Before I read this I called US Rep Pete Olson's office to encourage him to fight against any ACORN funding!

Pete Olson took back Tom Delay's Dist. 22 seat, in one of the few GOP victories in Nov.

I told the phone-monkey we want Pete to be as strong and vocal about Conservative values as Tom was!

Yup, bro J...that’s what they’re doing.

“Divide and Conquer” won the election. It will also guarantee a Republican minority for a long time.

The Republicans in DC need to STOP listening to the Media.

Headline is slightly overblown...No where is Rush told to Back-Off and Price bunches Rush in after Hannity and before Newt...and is whining "Stop making fun of us - you try to do this....my RINO vagina hurts."

Good to know Rush got his attention and maybe he'll try to wake the party, but this is not a blazen retort to Rush as the title infers.

**what they believe is fatigue on the part of voters over partisan fighting,**

How can we have fatigue about partisan fighting, when all the GOP has done was to lay down and roll over like the dog that knows he’d been BEATEN. We are Fatigued about the GOP REACHING across the Aisle and getting their hands Smacked,

Rep. Tom Price is simply showing us how a RINO gets outed.

First, after the Far Leftwing Extremist President tells Rush Limbaugh to STFU he opens his mouth.

See, wasn't that easy ~ Price is OFF THE LIST and OUT OF THE TENT.

Agreed. Stop whining that it’s hard to lead when you’re actually in office, grow a spine, and do what’s right for the country, not what you think is best for “the party,” let alone your own influence and power. If you can’t do that, resign.

Why hasn’t Rep Tom Price initiated a congressional investigation into ACORN?

It is all tied in with the beltway terrified of Palin et al.

What happens when the people realize that the beltway politicians are NOT democrat or republican but a creature of the beltway?

Rush is a laster beam of truth that is a serious danger to their lies.

McCain could not lie the way he anticipated because of the new media. The internet is only getting stronger. This is no live CNN thread for any thing.

Yup. It’s strange how the voters are never “fatigued over partisan fighting” when the Democrats are doing the fighting.

Rush represents Conservative thought and values a lot better than the GOP leadership. It’s time for the GOP to back off criticism of Rush, Hannity, Savage and all other Conservative media figures and aim their criticisms at Obama and the Dims instead of trying to compromise with them. You cannot compromise with Evil.
