Geithner Confirmed with some Repub Support
Fox News Live | 1/26/09 | vanity

Geithner vote of 60-34 (near strict party line), Gibbs' Press Beatings, Pelosi's $300M for abortion, Obama's "I won so shut up" -- The speed with which the Obama Administration is going down is breathtaking -- and wonderful!

Because some Senators still believe that the President has a right to choose who he wants for his cabinet when he first takes office.

A TAX CHEAT!?!?

Try not paying yours and see what happens.

Geithner is supposed to be "uniquely qualified" for the job.

Even if all these folks voted no, Geithner still would have 52 votes, and still be confirmed.

Whoops, bad math....that’s 10 of 41.....25% voted for confirmation. Still, not impressive enough.

So now Crapo, Ensign and Shelby are RINOs?

A better description would be spineless, unprincipled vermin who vote to confirm tax cheats to head the Department of Treasury which just happens to include the IRS.

Maybe McCain thinks he is running again in 4 years.

I'll bring the tomatoes and eggs.

Filibuster. He needed 58 votes to avoid that.

Even a one hour filibuster would have shown that the GOP had some backbone.

Too late. Voinovich is already gone (retiring). An ultra-liberal will get his seat, maybe Kucinich. You watch.

Kicinich? He's about as whacky as Blago from Ill-Annoy!

We live in the same district. I have emailed Sensenbrenner on many issues and he always replies with a nice letter. His website is also pretty up to date with what his stance is on bills coming up for votes. He is a true conservative.

It’s too bad we cannot have two senators from this state just like him!

A cheap set is about $5 at Home Depot and they need the business.

Then you have Feingold, Harkin and Sanders (VT-I) voting against the nomination as well.

I don't know what everyone is so worked up about?

Could it be the Bloomber article which read: "But the race to halt the economic slide before the midterm elections in 2010 is so tight that President Barack Obama's choice for treasury secretary, New York Federal Reserve Bank chief Timothy Geithner, is got a pass on his tax troubles from the president and most senators, Democrats and Republicans.

Before admitting:

"The Senate voted 60-34 to confirm Geithner."

I prefer the Bloomberg piece, which reminds us that: "After two hours of debate, the vote was 60-34 in his favor, the closest post-World War II margin for a Treasury secretary."

How is the title, “Geithner Confirmed with No Repub Support” even CLOSE to accurate with 10 Repub’s voting for him?

What the hell happened to Cornyn and Shelby?!

That was my question as well, as the others (except for Corker) were almost a given. You can now add Hatch in the mix as we had TEN voting in favor.

Yeah? Well he's also the only confirmed TAX CHEAT to run Treasury since WWII.

Now the Poser-in-Chief is having a TV opp exclaiming the virtues of the tax cheat and liar, Timothy Geithner. The cheering and woo-wooing of the syncophants is UFB.

Tonight’s vote was an utter disgrace. This man is not qualified to be a bank teller. Now he is arguably the second most powerful man on the planet.

Thanks, Senators!

The Class of 1776 weeps.

To: The Mayor

I Agree, I’m so sick of what these politicians are doing including my reps, that I sent this earlier tonight...

Dear Senator,

This is in response to many emails constituents, Including myself, have sent you over the years where in response you issued letters or emails stating that ”I didn’t or won’t vote for that bill or this bill”, this is unacceptable and is not a conservatives way of taking care of the people’s business.

YOU MUST STAND UP AND BATTLE THE ELEMENTS WITHIN OUR GOVERNMENT THAT ARE DESTROYING OUR COUNTRY AND YOU MUST DO IT NOW!

Over the years conservatives, such as me, have tried to guide you in standing your ground against the ruthless Democratic agenda, but due to your arrogance and/or stupidity, you and our other Senator, not to mention the House, have helped to almost completely destroy both the GOP and our Republic.

You, our other Senator and the other GOP Senators and congressmen are currently debating legislation and appointments that will finish our Republic off… You must “cease and desist” immediately and get back to our CONSTITUTION or we are doomed as a nation.

I am so disgusted with the GOPs performance and downright traitorous behavior, that for the first time in my life I have joined a Political Party… The GOP you might ask? Absolutely not! The GOP is so full of RINOs, that it is almost beyond hope of a return… it is a waste basket that must be emptied.

I am sending you this message in the hope that you will Look, Listen, and Understand the perilous conditions in our country and make the right decisions to get us back on the right track; I do not believe that you fully comprehend the underlying sentiments within our country at the moment, the people feel abandoned by their legislators in that 70-80% of the people have told our government NO and they went and still are going against the peoples wishes!

SHOULD YOU TRULY WANT OUR REPUBLIC TO SURVIVE THIS ECONOMIC DISASTER INTACT, YOU MUST FIGHT BACK, STAND YOU’RE GROUND AND ACT AS A CONSERVATIVE SHOULD, TO GET OUR COUNTRY BACK ON A CONSTITUTIONAL TRACK. YOU MUST DO THIS OR ALL IS LOST.

NO appointing Criminals to Government positions… Period!

NO more spending the PEOPLES TAXES on worthless bail-outs and programs!

NO more looking the other way to Government corruption, YOU MUST DRAW THE LINE!

The list goes on and you know it as well as I, Please act while our children and grandchildren still have a future.

Respectfully,
