I may be off on this, but I think the Republicans in Congress are actually as shocked as many of us are over Obama’s opening week. That and Pelosi’s vile comments about “family planning” may be the slap across the face the Republicans needed, because if they were still in this “we’ll bend over for him” mode, this would have been a unanimous vote. Obviously the Republicans are already seeing that this “economic policy” is doomed, and they want to be in position to say “I told you so!” by voting against the tax cheat.

If the Republicans see themselves as in danger of not winning re-election, they will vote accordingly, so this is telling.
