resident Obama Does First Formal TV Interview as President with Al-Arabiya
January 26, 2009 6:29 PM
As special envoy to the Middle East, George Mitchell heads off to the region to begin work on negotiating a cease fire between Israel and the Palestinians, President Obama has sat for his first formal TV interview with the Arabic cable TV network Al-Arabiya, ABC News has learned.
The interview was taped this evening and is set to air at 11 pm ET, as Mitchell is in the air and on his way to the region.
Based in Dubai, Al-Arabiya estimates that it has a potential audience exceeding 23 million in the Gulf region.

Is that true? Is the meeting without precedent?
I’ve never heard of such a thing.
Great idea, manc.
0 be strutting his stuff for the third world....which is where he is from
And just think, it’s only been a week! This is ridiculous. His first call was to Abbas after the innauguration, and now his first formal interview is with Al-Arabiya. His actions are easy to interpret - he’s a sympathizer and thinks the US is bad. I don’t want the consequences of his so called change.
maybe Jim could set this up on here
I don;t know how many people are registered on here but there has to be enough to cause a sweat to an official.
Think it would be better if we all targeted a couple of senators instead of just writing to our own.
Even if we targeted a Dem who is up for reelection or is in a red state, well he wouldn’t know that we were not Dems in his district.
Say we have 600 posters on here in a day then 600 e-mails or calls would certainly get their attention
Another thing which I thought was how about something like a photo bucket.
Sometimes I see a picture or a video but days later when I want to post that picture to back my argument up to someone I forget where the video or picture was.
Did he really call Abbas with his first call as President?
The ‘president’ is setting the ‘precedent’.
Oh, I can’t wait to see it.........
Question like, “President Obama, are you really not a Muslim?”
Lets make a list of the questions you think he was asked?:
1. Do you pray to Allah?
2. Do you accept there is only one God, Allah; and Mohammad is his Prophet? as the one true path to Heaven?
3. Do you have Jew Servants?
4. Are you going to find out who really brought down the WTO Towers on 9-11?
5. Are you going to extradite Bush Sr and Bush Jr to Iran? What about Cheney? Rumsfield?
6. When are you going to Mecca?
7. When are you going to Iran?
8. Do you like Lamb or Hummus?
9. What is your favorite Bollywood Actress?
10. Do you still remove your shoes and wash your feet before going into the Mosque?
11. When will you start to bomb Israel?
12. When will you establish Sharia Law in the US?
My Imagination is going wild...
Our side’s problem is that we didn’t grow up with an aggrieved mindset, and in addition, most of us aren’t on drugs to stimulate/prolong dissent.
I am right there laughing-not-crying with you. Seems I recall reading something somewhere about a prince of something or other who disguised himself as an angle of light. ;) Evil has many faces but only one heart.
This is certainly getting “curiouser and curiouser.”
Better, Iran had preconditions.
So what’s he giving them we don’t know about?
First call to a foreign leader: Terrorist Abbas.
It certainly is. I don’t know whether to get the popcorn or the scotch at this moment. :-/
Isn’t that special!
