Bill Gates: Financial crisis will last a decade

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has predicted it will take up to 10 years to weather the current global economic storm.

"The financial market and economic conditions that have developed this past year are truly unprecedented," Gates wrote on Monday in his first annual letter about his work at the philanthropic foundation that bears his name.

"I hope two years from now when I write this letter I can look at this section as a reflection of something that was short-term and that has passed," wrote Gates in a section of the 20-page letter devoted to the economic slump.

He could be right. If Congress keeps throwing money down the drain, we'll still be trying to pull ourselves out of this ten years from now.

With focus, we can clean out the RINOs in 2010 and again in 2012. Maybe then we'll have made enough impact to take back the White House.

Wake up, conservatives. It's going to require action on your part. Yes, I mean you. If we can't get a centralized FReepmeet in Dallas soon, then let's gather locally and report back to the group with a list of action items and a plan to implement them.

It will last until the Dems are no longer in control of Congress or the White House.

Keep supporting Democrats, Bill. You could help stretch the crisis out to last generations.

I’ve been writing code using Visual Studio and C# the last month. So much bloat, so few features.

What a dumb language.

Gates reminds me of musicians who had record-breaking first and second albums but then spent the rest of their lives trying to recreate the magic to no avail.

That’s the good news.
If conservatives fail we could lose an entire generation to the ‘progressives’. It took USSR 70 years to realize their failures but by then they had no one who with the guts it takes to obtain their individual liberty and economic freedom.
If you’re still looking to DC for answers/direction, we’ve already lost!

Yeah, but just think about how better we’ll be off then. We’ll all be driving around in cars designed to Barney Frank’s specifications (Climb into the back door of GM’s new Barneymobile!); we’ll be even furthered strengthened by our diversity; and we’ll be better off environmentally because of our cap and trade policies and or success in ending global warming.

"let's gather locally and report back to the group with a list of action items and a plan to implement them. "

If you cannot get your message out, nothing will matter as to what you do. For example, since 2003 the Democrats and media have pounded the lie that only the rich got tax cuts. So naturally when the Democrats tell the voters that they will get rid of those tax cuts, they cheer.

Fact: the 2003 tax cuts lowered the entire federal income tax rates. Low income, middle income, high income all got tax cuts from that. The EITC (earned income tax credit) was increased which directly benefited low income. The child credit was increased. That's 3 tax cuts that benefited the poor but because the Republicans never corrected the lie that only the rich got tax cuts, the Republicans got slaughtered for being pro-rich people only.

That's just plain ignorant.

Now the Democrats in fiscal 2008 ran up a $455 billion dollar deficit and the Republicans just let the Democrats hang that around their neck too.

That's just plain ignorant.

In fiscal 2009, Obama and the Democratic controlled Congress will run up close to a $2 trillion dollar deficit and the Republicans will just sit their while the Democrats hang that on their necks too.

That's just plain ignorant

The Democrats sink the entire US economy with their subprime loan scams and the Republicans tried to regulate that, but the Democrats just hung that on the Republicans' necks too.

That's just plain ignorant.

If you cannot get your message out and clear up the lies of Democrats, you, we, ain't going anywhere!

We should be buying TV commercial time and EDUCATING the American voter to the truth.

The republican party is dead. I see no evidence of brain-wave activity.

Microsoft lived off the creativity of others. Through replication of stuff dreamed up by others, they made a large pile of money.

But now, since MS mostly either crushed or bought all the creative competition, the places where any truly new stuff could arise are very limited.

It will last forever, IF the DEMS currently in Congress implement half of what they want......we’re watching history be made....the downfall of America (IF the Dems keep going in their current direction!) (I’m not in a real positive mood right now.)

The roots of our current financial and economic condition reach back far more than a year.

The biggest problem in computing today is sifting through the bloat to get to the functionality.

Would you like some bloatware with that?
