A plan by Gov. Sarah Palin to save money by imposing a state employee hiring freeze is raising questions, but lawmakers are doing little to stop it.
Palin made the surprise announcement in her State of the State speech Thursday, but offered few details at the time. Questions also abound about how many job openings will be affected, with two officials in Palin's administration providing conflicting numbers, and also if the state does in fact have a deficit as advertised.

Read the comments at the bottom of the article. The company government town population of Juneau, AK are screaming.
Raises questions? I guees that means a responsible politician listening to the voters may be troubling for the liberal media.
Ya Patricia - you idiot - the question it raises is "Why the hell isn't every level of government in the nation doing the same thing?"
In economic crises, only regular folks are supposed to suffer, while government types expect it to be a time of great opportunity and growth. How dare Gov. Palin not stick with the script.
If she spent her way into oblivion, they’d be all over her too. But then she’d be irresponsible and maligned—instead of only unfairly maligned. Of course, a Democrat who spends their way into oblivion is “taking decisive action to save the economy.”
PDS by the media.
All Sarah's fault
Now this is real leadership! Economics 101 boys and girls....pay attention now Obambi.....ready? Balance Your Check Book and Keep It Balanced!!! Part 2 Save For a Rainy Day!!! Can You Hear Me Washington??? Cut Back On Spending!!! Project Ahead!!! It’s Called Foresight folks.
the comments are sick sick sick
Why would any Governor facing a national depression freeze hiring if there is no “deficit” in her state? Doesn’t she know tax money is supposed to all be spent hiring state employees?
d’oh.
was there PDS in Alaska before she ran for VP? Or did the national press bring it up there during the campaign like hoof “in” mouth when they were doing their politics of personal destruction dumpster diving?
He's so full of BS he's brown !
Hiring freeze by Palin is a smart move, minimal impact on existing employees etc .....no one lost a job and no fake clintonista jobs created to burden America with 8 years after the current administration leaves office like Bubbafucco and the Hildebeast did .
Doom on the polidiots and presstitutes that pander propaganda against those really trying to make America better.
Most fellow Alaskans I know trust Palin’s decisions. They have been watching her since early 90’s and her word is good.
Cutting government. Oh what a shame!! You go, girl.
“Rep. Les Gara, D-Anchorage, referred to “fake deficits” at a House Finance Committee meeting Friday.”
It’s called “getting ahead of the game BEFORE your state’s in trouble,” Les. Would that ALL levels of government did the same.
The scum in the newsmedia loved Caroline “ya know” Kennedy until the public was outraged by the stupid clown.
Palin is responsible but she is not part of the totally corrupt beltway crowd. She is pro-life, pro-second, responsible, conservative, a tax cutter, pro-family etc etc all the things the Libs and media hate.
Well, yes, I guess so. Several come to mind for me:
So?
What’s the problem?
Isn’t that part of the job?
Most of those posters are not Alaskans. They are Obamabots.
Yeah, questions like “Why can’t every other state government in country do the same damn thing?” Screw the press.
Another Monday, and another Sarah Palin article.
Those that claim Palin won’t be a factor come 2012 are looking more ridiculous with each passing week.
They wouldn’t be putting so much energy into trying to crush Palin if they weren’t afraid of her.
Exactly...on both sides of the aisle, as we see daily.
