Other Views: Far-right Obama critics get a reply

"I hope he fails" -- Limbaugh

It is, of course, a calculated outrage.

Meaning, it was spewed by a clown in the media circus to kick a familiar sequence into motion: angry denunciation by bloggers, pundits and supporters of President Barack Obama (the ''he'' whose failure is hoped), followed by Rush Limbaugh refusing to retract a word, a courageous truth teller who will not be moved. And, trailing behind, like the folks with brooms trail the elephants in the circus parade, Limbaugh's devotees, complaining that their hero has been misquoted, misunderstood or otherwise mistreated. ``What Rush meant was . . . yadda yadda yadda.''

A calculated outrage.

(snip)

``I hope he fails.''

Do you ever say that about your president if you are an American who loves your country? Would you say it about George W. Bush, who was disastrous; about Bill Clinton, who was slimy; about Jimmy Carter, who was inept; about Richard Nixon, who was crooked? You may think he's going to fail, yes. You may warn he's going to fail, yes.

But do you ever hope he fails? Knowing his failure is the country's failure? Isn't that, well . . . disloyal?

(snip)

Yes, an observer might point out that it's counterproductive to give them attention while decrying their love of attention. But, as already noted, occasionally the clowns spew something that cannot, and ought not, be ignored.

The good news is that the Miami Herald and the rest of the odious McClatchy newspaper chain isn’t long for this world.

In a sudden and shocking reversal of a long-held position, the Left has declared itself pro-America.

Rush has already said he supports the President, he just doesn’t support his agenda. The left should understand that. It’s how they support the troops.

Did liberals hope for George Bush to succeed? As I recall, where he did succeed (Iraq), they claim that he failed.

Limbaugh has the backbone to "speak truth to power."

Dissent is patriotic!

"I hope he fails."

The full statement, which is easily found on the net...
So I shamelessly say, no, I want him to fail, if his agenda is a far- left collectivism, some people say socialism, as a conservative heartfelt, deeply, why would I want socialism to succeed?
...but which Mr. Pitts, Jr. seems woefully incapable of finding and has to truncate with a simple "I hope he fails." not once, not twice but four times to press his argument! How did you get your job, Mr. Pitts, Jr.? Strike one!

And, trailing behind, like the folks with brooms trail the elephants in the circus parade, Limbaugh's devotees, complaining that their hero has been misquoted, misunderstood or otherwise mistreated.
Well, believe you me Mr. Pitts, Jr, Rush is no hero of mine. I've decried him in the past for calling himself "The Doctor of Democracy".
You obviously know he's been misquoted since you're one of the very people misquoting him. Or did you not do your job properly and just took someone's word for it? Strike two!

The ideology, their perversion of conservatism, is but a means toward that end.
No, it isn't ideology, it's true and objective reporting, which you aren't doing. Strike three! You're out!

Knowing his failure is the country's failure? Isn't that, well . . . disloyal?

Of course there's a big assumption built into the above statement.

I think “Far Right” refers to anybody to the left of Kirsten Gillibrand, the Democratic New York Senate nominee.

Actually, I’m pretty sure Kirsten Gillibrand is included, too...

Did Rush specifically say that about Obama? If so, the writer needs to present the context Rush was speaking in.

This is sooo dishonest!

I don’t care at all what Rush actually meant.

Having lived in two communist countries and in a third with a strong communist movement in government, I pray daily for Obama’s socialist policies to utterly fail in their planning and implementation.

Any SUCCESS I would wish for Obama is that he comes to the light of day and reality, SUCCEEDS in the abandonment of his socialst friends altogether and their socialist agenda, and SUCCEEDS in embracing the life and morality of the Christianity he falsely claims to possess.

We can not define any advance of socialism as “success” in the American context, but rather failure.

"I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic," a shrill-sounding Clinton shouted during her address to Connecticut's Jefferson Jackson Bailey dinner.

"We should stand up and say, we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration," she shrieked."

Hillary: 'I'm Sick and Tired' of Patriotic Critics

Words, just words.

If you believe that what Obama is doing is destroying free markets, free ideas and the US Constitution then you are a PATRIOT if you “hope he fails”.

And I believe that.

And I hope he fails.

And I’m a patriot.
