CHICAGO (AP) -- Gov. Rod Blagojevich's lead attorney said Friday that he plans to resign from the impeached governor's criminal case.

"I have practiced law for 44 years. I never require a client to do what I say, but I do require clients to listen to what I say," Genson told reporters. "I intend to withdraw as counsel in this case."

Someone associated with the guy has a brain and common sense after all. I was beginning to wonder.

It's certainly possible. The Illinois State Bar is probably like other states where the legislature and the Bar are joined at the hip.

His lawyer quitting comes as no surprise-——after Blago made a complete idiot of himself at the presser he organized to respond to his impeachment.

Yesterday Blago compounded his idiocy by comparing his arrest to Japan’s 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor.....a “complete surprise” but said he’ll prevail, just like America in World War II.

It’s nauseating to think this nitwit Gov Blago was once in the US Congress.

As I understand this situation, this was expected quite some time ago and a foregone conclusion.

Translation: "By the time the legal system is done with him, I don't think he'll be able to pay his bills."

Nope, I don't agree. The bills would be paid up front before the representation commenced.

I think it is because Blago is such a stupid idiot that there is no way the lawyer can find a way to help him, because he is bent on self-destruction. Also, who knows what the lawyer has now learned about the case since he started? I'll bet dollars to donuts that what his client was telling him was a lot different than what the prosecutor is showing him. If a lawyer cannot trust his client to tell him the truth, he will not be able to provide effective assistance.

It is also likely that Blago is receiving advice from more than one source. If true, then no criminal defense lawyer can work when the client is looking to a committee.

Jeez, Blago, in Chicago you could have easily come up with a lawyer with no scruples at all. What did you get this ditz for?

I know....

He needs to hire Mango Tree Lawyer Greg Craig to take his case.

If paid a zillion dollars, he will accept.

P.S.

Maybe Hugo Chavez will help pay Craig’s expenses.

It’s really funny until you think how much money the taxpayers are spending on this farce.

The only thing this guy did wrong was get recorded.

You don't think Paterson got something out of his deal?

By the way, as long as people are accusing him of "selling" MUZZIE HUSSEINS seat, just exactly how much was he asking?

The only person that made an idiot of himself today was Shepard Smith.

Somebody medicate that faggot.

I live here in Illinois and it is both one of the most surreal yet disturbing things I’ve seen - I do believe this guy is a sociopath. He should write the book now in his delusional state and then write the sequel after he gets out of prison in 6 years. The shameful thing is that this state is so Obama blue that when Pat Quinn or Lisa Madigan run for the open spot Obama will come in and support one of em and they’ll probably bet good Republicans like Tom Cross or Dan Rutherford

Blago's previous presser speech featured that moron, Shep Smith, talking over him with dopey comments during the talk. I was forced to switch to (argh) CNN to hear the rest of the governor's speech in total.

Same damm thing today. That moron, Smith, was again speechifying, editorializing, and doing a SNL routine before, during and after Blago's speech. Again, I had to switch over to (argh) CNN.

Smith fancies himself a comedian when he does commentary on Blago. He has no idea how unfunny and lame his political "patter" is.
