McCain Now Obama's No. 1 Senate Ally

GOP Sen. John McCain is positioning himself to be one of President Barack Obama’s strongest supporters, effectively giving Democrats the votes they need to override any GOP attempt to block the new administration’s legislative agenda.

Obama heaped warm praise on his GOP rival during a dinner held in McCain’s honor the day before the inauguration, calling him a hero.

Insiders duly noted McCain was granted a prime spot on the dais at the inauguration, sandwiched in a seat between White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

The day after the inauguration, Obama and McCain spoke again at the National Prayer breakfast.

It was all part of Obama’s ongoing charm offensive to woo those on the other side of the aisle. The effort was apparently well received by the maverick senator from Arizona, who throughout his career has shown a proclivity for teaming up with Democrats on legislation.

I have always thought he was a bit mentally off. My mother has always said anyone who received the treatment he did as a POW was bound to have residual issues and scars.

She and my father knew a couple WWII soldiers who had been Nazi POWs. One of them had an alcohol problem. He couldn’t get over what had happened to him. Although he functioned in his career and family, he still had alcohol issues and often seemed sad and brooding. Neither of them would discuss what they had endured and even on the one who was not a drinler there was something, I can’t quite explain, that made him “different”.

“Thank you Rev. Huckleberry Hound for creating this mess back in February, 2008.”

I’m thinking it’s more appropriate to blame the people who voted for him in the primaries. Ann Coulter referred to him as the Hucksterbee. Apparently he had a very liberal record as Governor.

If any of the people who voted for him, rather than Mitt or Rudy, are on FR - perhaps they could stand up and tell us why in 25 words or less. Just so we can figure out how to avoid this problem next time.

I don’t know what sort of psychological pathology drives people like you (and there are many) to conjure up these absurd notions and crackpot theories.

But there’s no “evidence” for them.

None.

McCain’s going down the road of Ford and Dole and kissing butt of the candidate he lost to. Kerry, on the other hand, had no problem not only bashing Bush, but bashing America, when he lost. I don’t suggest we go down the road of Kerry, but why do our guys always have to play nice?

25 words or less? This is what I heard from day one: "Mitt Romney is a Mormon. Hucklebee is a Christian."

And a good topping of:

You're idiots. Any RATIONAL person saw this coming a mile off and didn't delude themselves into thinking that suddenly McCain was going to NOT stab us in the back like he's done for the last 16 years.

It didn't take a rocket science to see what he would be like once the election was over.

I kept saying that y'all were making a BIG mistake, but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! You all new better and I and many others were crucified when we pointed out that there's about a playing card's thickness worth of difference between Obama and McCain.

But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! The Honorable McCain was going to flip over night to be the conservative that all of you knew he had in him.

Enjoy the crow!

I'll never understand what psychological pathology drives some people to attempt to psycho analyze someone they've never met, based on a few words typed on a news forum.

Kind of a stupid, arrogant and ultimately futile thing to attempt.

An opinion you disagree with does not a pathology make, as much as you'd like it to.

Party Hacks and Democrats nominated Comrade Juan McNuts.

Conservatives and real Republican Grass Roots were opposed to McCain from Day 1. We voted for Sarah.

And republicans did the same thing. Remember motor mouth Hannity’s “Stop Hillary Express”?

IIRC, it was a reaction to the wholesale FUBAR that the Democrats and Independents had already made of the Republican primary. Notwithstanding, I thought both efforts were wrong. Primaries should be for registered members of that particular party, and outsiders should not be allowed.

Senator John Cornyn is a good Conservative, on the other hand Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson is MeCain Republican.

She'll end up supporting Obamnesty with MeCain.
