McCain Now Obama's No. 1 Senate Ally
Newsmax ^ | 2009-01-23 | David A. Patten

GOP Sen. John McCain is positioning himself to be one of President Barack Obama’s strongest supporters, effectively giving Democrats the votes they need to override any GOP attempt to block the new administration’s legislative agenda.

Obama heaped warm praise on his GOP rival during a dinner held in McCain’s honor the day before the inauguration, calling him a hero.

Insiders duly noted McCain was granted a prime spot on the dais at the inauguration, sandwiched in a seat between White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

The day after the inauguration, Obama and McCain spoke again at the National Prayer breakfast.

It was all part of Obama’s ongoing charm offensive to woo those on the other side of the aisle. The effort was apparently well received by the maverick senator from Arizona, who throughout his career has shown a proclivity for teaming up with Democrats on legislation.

With McCain and the Maine Twins in his pocket, Obama will have a rubber stamp Senate.

The only hope is to attract the several conservative Democrats in the House on mainline conservative issues.

But he's going to fight!fight!fight! to beat Obama!

I think I actually loathe McCain more than I do Obama at this point, especially considering his silence on the Palin smears after he lost the election.

It's times like this you almost wish those damn North Vietnamese Commies operating their SAM batteries had been a bit more accurate.

McCain has got to be the biggest Quisling in Republican political history.

I quit during the GOP’s silence when Palin was being smeared by McCain’s camp after the election. Welcome to the club!

WE SHOULD NEVER LET A MAN LIKE THIS BECOME OUR NOMINEE EVER AGAIN!

The sad truth is, registered Republicans didn't let him become the nominee. Crossover voters in the front-loaded key primary states "crossed the aisle" to vote for this POS. It was all over before it even began.

Until the GOP gets things changes in the states, limiting primary participation to registered Republicans, this will keep happening again and again.

Before the next election in 2012, the open primaries need to be closed to those who are registered in that particular party, be R or D. We got mclame because alot of demorats voted for him and the same can be said about shillary getting a lot of votes from republicans.

Why single out McCain for scorn? The whole rest of the party does the same thing! With the exception of Jim DeMint, David Vitter, Jeff Sessions, and one or two others, everyone up there just rolls over. They don’t want to be ‘obstructionist.’ They can’t stand up and draw a clear contrast between themselves and Obama/Dems - there’s no sense of ‘loyal opposition.’ The Republicans stand for nothing when they’re in power, accede to the legislative prerogatives of the liberals when they’re not, and have zero communications strategy. It’s pathetic. I think John McCain is the perfect ‘leader’ for this party. It’s all about compromise, gentlemanly deference, and cordiality. The old bulls of conservatism are gone.

Maybe, but more likely it's part of McCain's offensive to stay on his knees as long as it takes to re-ingratiate himself to the Dems and the MSM. There is no one and no issue the pathetic little weasel won't sell out to draw attention to himself so he can feel like a big player.

No words to adequately describe how low this character will go.

But....but....but...McCain is a good conservative and should not be questioned or criticized. At least that is what I’ve read a number of times here on the forum.

TRUE!!!

I just feel bad for Sarah that she wasted her time with this RINO trash

The ultimate insult to McCain would be for Sarah to run for John's seat in Arizona.

Turns out McCain was the real Manchurian Candidate, and it seem so have rubbed of on Graham.

Why, this isn’t a reference to Florida 2008, now is it?

They picked BOTH nominees, and they will next time, unless the GOP restructures.
