Rep. Carolyn McCarthy said yesterday Rep. Kirsten Gillibrand's gun control views make her unacceptable for the U.S. Senate and threatened a primary challenge in 2010 if Gov. David A. Paterson selects the Hudson Democrat to replace Hillary Rodham Clinton.

"I've spent 15 years trying to prevent gun violence in this country, and if he does pick her and if no one goes and primaries her, I will primary her," McCarthy said. "I will do that. I'm not going to give up on this. I'm not going to let New York State get represented by someone who gets a 100 percent rating from the NRA."
Sen. Charles Schumer, who like McCarthy is a strong proponent of gun control, asked the Mineola Democrat to refrain from protesting Gillibrand's selection, McCarthy said.

The ADA gave her a LQ(liberal quotient?) of 95 based on her record on 20 issues/bills for 2008. The ACU gave her a lifetime rating of 18.56, IIRC. She had been a self described "moderate" pubbie prior to her defection, IIRC.

Chucky and others would never have allowed Gilliland to be considered, much less seated, if she weren’t controlled and controllable.

This is an interesting development, indeed. I wonder if McCarthy will go through with it? If so, the GOP might have a chance at her House seat, as well.
How dare they select someone like Gillibrand. Afterall, Rep. Carolyn(Barrel Shroud)McCarthy has written legislation about guns and is an expert.

The rats in Congress pick up over 50 seats in the House and 14 seats in the Senate since 2006 by moving to the right on social issues, and the RINO geniuses tell us we should move to the left. These RINOs got to go. BTW, we're supposed to have truth in science now. What a relief!

Sure, the rats have a registration edge but not that much. It’s ‘gone to the rats’ in POTUS voting (it’s now only 62% white, in terms of total population of course not registered voters) but there’s still some local GOP strength, I think state GOP headquarters is in the district somewhere.
We need to cast a wide net in tackling house seats. Almost any open seat needs to be looked at.
