Obama to GOP: "I won"
Politico ^ | 1/23/2009 | Jonathan Martin and Carol E. Lee

President Obama listened to Republican gripes about his stimulus package during a meeting with congressional leaders Friday morning - but he also left no doubt about who's in charge of these negotiations. "I won," Obama noted matter-of-factly, according to sources familiar with the conversation.

The exchange arose as top House and Senate Republicans expressed concern to the president about the amount of spending in the package. They also raised red flags about a refundable tax credit that returns money to those who don’t pay income taxes, the sources said.

Personally every last President once they take office should be about being the President of everyone. ZERO saying “I won” is juvenile at best. Even Clinton reached out to Republicans.

I personally would be ashamed of any Republican President that talked to the other side and said “I won” as his job is to do what is best for the entire Country and to take into consideration different points of view.

Well, at least BO has gone from one word sentences like “Hope” and “Change” to two word sentences...”I won”!

Well, he’s right. This is no different from when Bush said he had political capital to spend.

Mr. Obama is showing Republicans how to govern. Republicans should continue pointing out the mistakes in Socialism, and let the Democrats fail. As Mr. Obama said, he won. It’s his game to lose now.

Watching the majority party GOP sell out its principles for favorable media coverage, Georgetown dinner parties and to look like they are making nice with the Democrats.

If that were true, you wouldn't say something as silly as the winner getting to do what he wants, or wasn't twelve years long enough for you to learn the character of the opposition?

Unfortunately, the Gops only have about 36 reliable votes to stop cloture.

Exactly!
Not one Republican should vote for this bill. They should only ask to add a warning label to this travesty. This bill will blow up in the dems collective faces. The more they tamper with the economy the worse it will get.
Let the bodies hit the floor. Bad business models should be allowed to fail. It’ll hurt but the pain will be much much worse down the line.

No one has ever claimed or even implied that Democrats have class, decency, or are even reasonable when they are in power, which is only one of the reasons there was a change in the congressional control to Republicans several years ago. I believe the time will come, sooner than later, when the majority of Americans will tire of O’s arrogance, the chip on his shoulder and his lack of good will. The Republicans need a leader who will generate innovative ideas again as Neutron did a few years back. Neutron’s big gift is his future thinking ability tied to his great knowledge of US history.

A-men!

Dubya brought Slick Willie back from the political dead in 2001 after the Clinton exit fiasco-including the Mark Rich and terrorist pardons. He allowed Schoolbus Nagin to slide on Katrina and let the MSM pin it all on him. He didn’t get ahead of the financial mess last summer to call out Bawney Fwank, Raines, Dodd, et al nor did he use all his power to ensure a GOP POTUS in ‘08-not just for the party’s sake, but the country’s. We ain’t safe now, that’s for sure.

You can think about that personally all by yourself. Next Republican President has got to take precipitate action to round up traitors and enemy agents.

And I’d do it...tie the place up in knots.

“I won”...[spit].

Lets see you do anything with it.

...wha???

Sorry must have dozed off for a minute and dreamed the Repubs would actually say something along those lines.

Yeah, Barry. You did. If you have any illusion about whether that’s permanent, or even particularly long-lasting, do call either your immediate predecessor, or his dad, or both.

Several ways to awaken come to mind:

1. When the tax bill and costs for your employer gets so big that you are fired or let go, or if you go out of business as your inefficient and failed competitors are propped up by tax dollars(i.e. - your own money). Reid: “The goverment must help these distressed companies.”

2. When the government sends its agents to inquire about and confiscate your guns which they have tracked via ammunition purchases. Feinstein: “These are dangerous.”

3. A terrorist released from GITMO due to Obama’s keen intellect sets off a biological weapon in a shopping mall that you happened to be at. Not to worry though, as Obama’s AG Holder has promised to “prosecute if he survives.”

4. Iran unleashes a dirty bomb on US soil the same day they launch several nuclear warheads at Israel. Ahmadinejad: “Wipe Israel off the map.”

The nightmare of what has happened to this country is real and will not go away unless travesty occurs.

He may have won but America lost.

Well, 535 people also won in Congress. 50 Governors won. Thousands more won legislative seats. Obama thinks being president means being a dictator. He’s about to find out how much he needs all those other winners.

Now we can see why he and Rahm “Eff Republicans” Emmanuel are such good friends. But he will stumble...likely in less time than anyone imagined. And the press may not be as eager to help him out - he’s been slapping them around pretty well. I remember something about burning bridges..stepping on toes....
