President Obama listened to Republican gripes about his stimulus package during a meeting with congressional leaders Friday morning - but he also left no doubt about who's in charge of these negotiations. "I won," Obama noted matter-of-factly, according to sources familiar with the conversation.
The exchange arose as top House and Senate Republicans expressed concern to the president about the amount of spending in the package. They also raised red flags about a refundable tax credit that returns money to those who dont pay income taxes, the sources said.

Yep. biggest single mistake Bush made was not taking this approach from day one.
When will it ever occur to the whimpering PUBS that obozo & the RAT controlled Congress will NOT engage in bipartisan politics? They never have and never will. RATS motto is “Do it my way!” obozo & pelosi have already made their threats to keep the PUBS in line via communicating the threat to prosecute Bush appointees. Wake up, PUBS, and smell the manure being shoveled at you. Sheesh!
Well, it is very clear that both President Bush and Vice President Cheney already set the tone for this kind of action by saying that they were abandoning free market principles in order to “save the economy”...
It’s not like Bush and Cheney weren’t right behind this very thing, themselves, even offering to help Obama get legislation moving while Bush was still in office...
I’d say the Republicans in the Congress are “behind the eight-ball” on this one, giving the precedent of Bush and Cheney...
“And what, exactly, will the money spent on contraception stimulate?”
Well, it depends. Are they using it to buy the French Tickler?
You said — “You are so right. When will the GOP learn that lesson? Time to clean house.”
That will be years away, if it happens at all...
No, "we won" is uttered by crass party animals.
A Statesman considers himself a leader of ALL the people. He takes executive action decisively when necessary, but is also at work to convince and reason.
"We won" is for juveniles. Not surprising Hussein uses that rhetoric in what should be a negotiating session.
Like Hell!
Where were you during the Bush presidencies?
Isn’t that called *welfare*?
“I won”??!! WTF, he thinks that makes him king or something? He doesn’t get to “rule” by proclamation, that’s why there’s a Congress and an opposition party (such as it is, they’re all a bunch of whores). As for the media, they made their bed, whoring for their boy, now they can lie in it.
OK, You won...but we can filibuster EVERYTHING so you cannot do ANYTHING!
Then He can pass it (WITHOUT THEM)!
“Where were you during the Bush presidencies?”
Watching the majority party GOP sell out its principles for favorable media coverage, Georgetown dinner parties and to look like they are making nice with the Democrats.
Where were you?
It's a waste of his time and a waste of their time.
We need to get busy to prepare this mind-numbed, knee-jerk, robot-like Leftwingtard for some serious electoral defeat.
This is actually an opportunity for the GOP. Have the vote on key issues where their ideas are preposterous go entirely along party lines. Then when the RAT policy blows up, the GOP can point out that the stupid idea was implemented solely because of RAT support.
>>So much for reaching across the aisle and post-partisanship.<<
Quite the reverse - RINOs will fall all over themselves trying to stay in good graces while acting like they have our interests at heart.
Maybe now they’ll start getting the meassage that the only reaching the LIBs do is to steal our money.
0bambi may have won the battle, but he ain’t winning this war. I love the part about millions for contraceptives - do they wear them while they’re screwing us?
While Obama is a dangerous buffoon, he is right! Winners get to call the shots! Perhaps the republican party should be taking notes. so the next time we are in power we dont invite people like Ted kennedy to create the education bill for example.
Obama don’t do no reach-arounds!
