Thursday, January 22, 2009 It was a big first day in the White House for President Barack Obama, who announced a pay freeze for his staff, not to mention new (and stringent) restrictions on lobbying. Meanwhile, the new chief executives cabinet continued to take shapeHillary Clinton overwhelmingly got the green light as the next Secretary of State, and Treasury Secretary hopeful Tim Geithner made it through his hearings with promises of confirmation. But not so fast, Eric Holder! The presidents choice for Attorney General will have to wait at least another week after Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee requested a delaymuch to the angst of committee Chairman Patrick Leahy, a Vermont Democrat.
Theres no angst in the Independent Nationonly high hopes for a brand new (and better) America. And you can do your part each and every day by participating in the national conversation with Mr. Independent, Lou Dobbs.
Lous guests on Thursday include Democratic strategist HANK SHEINKOPF. The communications guru will offer his thoughts on the vacant Senate seat of Hillary Clinton and who New York Gov. David Paterson will likely choose to fill it.
Everyone knows that the nations economy is in the tank. But how is it affecting each one of us, mentally and physically? Lou will talk it over with nationally syndicated talk show host DR. JOY BROWNE.
And ROSANNA PULIDO, the founder of the Illinois Minuteman Project, will discuss her efforts to fill the House seat of Rahm Emanuel, President Obamas chief of staff.
As always, Lou will take your calls to discuss the issues that matter most to youand to get your thoughts on the direction America is heading. Call him toll-free on the Independent Hotline at 877-55 DOBBS.

Good luck to you, chicagolady, I think you will have an uphill climb. But if you can get to the county committee and convince them that this middle of the road nonsense was good for naught, it will be a blessing by itself. And I’d love to see you win the seat.
As always....GO GET ‘EM!!!
Props to you for your dedication and commitment. God Bless you!
