I’m not an Obama fan, but I have to say the video appears to show a man being gracious and pausing to allow the chief justice to correct himself.

So does that mean that everything up to the oath, such as executive orders, have to be reissued?
No. The 20th Amendment made him pres at noon on the 20th, oath or no. And according to what I've read, some Presidents in the past just said "I do" and didn't repeat the oath at all.

Bonehead move by the Chief Justice not to have notes for the swearing in ceremony. I heard that this AM: Roberts didn't have the oath written down? WTF?
To: lewisglad
Nothing that Obama screws up will ever be his fault.
I'm just surprised that they haven't blamed it on Bush yet.

Yes, the second flub of the 3 was that part. My point is if there were 2 flubs by Bush and 1 by Roberts, I do not think the the MSM would simply say it was ALL Roberts fault.
To: FReepaholic
Bonehead move by Obama to not have a teleprompter. He should KNOW better by now that he needs to have that in front of him.
To: icwhatudo
Roberts asked it like a question...
“So help you God?”
LOL!

Was yesterdays flub intentional so that he could swear on the Koran today?

The list of honors graduates is made public.
And intelligence is not equal to wisdom or demonstrated experience. No one has ever claimed that graduating magna cum laude from HLS means someone has wisdom or demonstrated experience, but you'd be hard-pressed to argue that any HLS graduate with that distinction is not intelligent.

If there was a video, we could see if he swears on the Koran.

Jeff Toobin and Campbell Brown of CNN were just discussing the 'do-over.' Toobin asserted basically that it didn't matter that President Obama did not meet the requirements of Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution because Article XX says that the President's term begins at noon on January 20. He reflected the view of one FReeper yesterday afternoon who suggested that the oath of office is just a formality. Excuse me?
Toobin is just another liberal useful idiot and isn't worth wasting time on. The bad guy here isn't even Obama. I'm no fan of Obama but he clearly knew that the wording was improper. It sounded to me like he tried to correct Chief Justice Roberts's mistake but gave up.
The Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court's only job is to see that all requirements of the Constitution are followed. He failed miserably in that task yesterday. He should have immediately apologized to all Americans. CNN said that the re-oath was conducted privately to spare Roberts further embarassment.

And in the end, who cares. They both flubbed the same lines and they've both humbled themselves to do it over, thus exhibiting (whether heartfelt or not) a shared belief in the importance of the oath. Bravo.
Now let's get Obama to admit error on abortion and be humble enough to change his past policies, and thus exhibit a belief in the importance of human life. After a baby is killed, there are no do-overs.

I remember the media poking fun at GWB because he moved his hand to the words as he was being sworn in, sort of like to emphasize the words.

Since the the early 1990's most Harvard students graduated with honor. Harvard and other Ivy League school have been inflating grades for almost two decades. It was a big scandal few years ago when it came to light.
This is one of many articles about this issue:

He doesn’t come across as intelligent when he speaks or writes. His address, which he wrote, was horrendous.

The 20th Amendment made him pres at noon on the 20th, oath or no. He is President at noon but he can't execute the office before taking the oath. Here, bookmark this site and become a better citizen: constitution.org.
Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
some Presidents in the past just said "I do" "I do" is sufficient if the oath is posed to him correctly. But the oath was posed incorrectly, and Obama didn't say "I do".
