MORE BOOS THAN BALLS
January 21, 2009 It will not be easy for President B. Hussein Obama. More than half the country voted for him, and yet our newspapers are brimming with snippy remarks at every little aspect of his inauguration.
Here's a small sampling of the churlishness in just The New York Times:
-- The American public is bemused by the tasteless show-biz extravaganza surrounding Barack Obama's inauguration today.
-- There is something to be said for some showiness in an inauguration. But one felt discomfited all the same.
-- This is an inauguration, not a coronation.
-- Is there a parallel between Mrs. Obama's jewel-toned outfit and somebody else's glass slippers? Why limousines and not shank's mare?
It is still unclear whether we are supposed to shout "Whoopee!" or "Shame!" about the new elegance the Obamas are bringing to Washington.
Boy, talk about raining on somebody's parade! These were not, of course, comments about the inauguration of the angel Obama; they are (slightly edited) comments about the inauguration of another historic president, Ronald Reagan, in January 1981.
Obama's inaugural address tracked much of Reagan's first inaugural address -- minus the substance -- the main difference being that Obama did not invoke God as stoutly or frequently, restricting his heavenly references to a few liberal focus-grouped phrases, such as "God-given" and "God's grace."
Obama was also not as fulsome in his praise of his predecessor as Reagan was. To appreciate how remarkable this is, recall that Reagan's predecessor was Jimmy Carter.
Under Carter, more than 50 Americans were held hostage by a two-bit terrorist Iranian regime for 444 days -- released the day of Reagan's inauguration. Under Bush, there has not been another terrorist attack since Sept. 11, 2001.
But I gather that if Obama had uttered anything more than the briefest allusion to Bush, that would have provoked yet more booing from the Hope-and-Change crowd, which moments earlier had showered Bush with boos when he walked onto the stage. That must be the new tone we've been hearing so much about.
So maybe liberals can stop acting as if the entire nation could at last come together in a "unity of purpose" if only conservatives would stop fomenting "conflict and discord" -- as Obama suggested in his inaugural address. We're not the ones who booed a departing president.

Slight correction.
She said that when Republicans were inaugurated that the Republicans and Conservatives didn’t boo any of the outgoing Democrat Presidents.
(Even though they certainly deserved it!...[my comment])
Does she say when that show will air?
Ann’s column for the week is up!
Here’s another thread Syncro. I’ll be linking yours from it.

Tomorrow January 22nd, so check your local listings.
Yep, it airs tomorrow!
She mentions that on her website.
You can go there and look at the sidebar, QUOTATIONS FROM CHAIRMAN ANN, at the top. There is a link to see what time it is on in your area.
Sweet, thank you
My usual: 6-egg omelette, pound of bacon, six pancakes, toast, gallon of orange juice -- wait, that was Jerry Nadler's breakfast. I had a grapefruit.
Classic!
The average American watching this whole “celebration” can’t help noticing the classlessness revealed so quickly. The Obama lovers trashed the capitol area. Just look at the “after” pictures. R. Emanual thumbed his nose making a mockery of a serious event. Obama fans booed President Bush as he entered for the ceremony. What is going on here? Our government is being trashed from day 1! As a teacher who watched the ceremony with my 6th grade students, I had to tell them what song Aretha Franklin was singing she butchered it so much. My students were thrilled to see the signing of the oath of office seen later, the helicopter take off and the new Pres and Vice Pres and their wives civily seeing the Bushes off. I think the children of our nation may have more manners than the “adults” who are now in charge in Washington.
God bless her! She, Rush, Sarah, Michelle Malkin and a handful of others refuse to (like you, Gingrich!) abandon conservative principles and their strange fetish for truth and bow before the golden (plated) liberal idol.
And you have so much class. Why would you make students watch a jerk who would put a child in a sink to die? If my child was in your class I’d change schools. Oh I just looked and seen where your from, that explains it.
They act like a bunch of animals.
“As a teacher who watched the ceremony with my 6th grade students, I had to tell them what song Aretha Franklin was singing she butchered it so much”.
...my 6th grade daughters teacher and her principle got an earfull from me regarding showing this horrendous event in school. Neither 2001 nor 2005 inaugurations were televised in the school. No reason for this to be. Nothing positive will come of this clown as POTUS. May as well have shown Chavez on his 1st day. Historic? Yes. Historic in that we’ve elected a Marxist to destroy Capitalism and basic freedoms. A guy who views the Constitution as something that needs to be “over-hauled” and “re-written”. Thumbs his nose at the military. Is pro-abortion and pro-infanticide and much, much...less. Showing “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” would’ve be more educational and less scary.
Yep. We on the right are the “haters”.
Sorry if I offended you. As a social studies teacher, the swearing in of a President and the process of succession is taught. I am a registered Republican and voted for Bush twice. However, you will find that most schools in America watched the 1/2 hour tv coverage. I would never refuse to show this or reveal my own political views to my students. And trust me, it has been a difficult time in our state. Don’t assume all New Yorkers are liberal.

President Obama: Hope vs. Reality
The inauguration party is over. Whats next for this country?Dr. Phil and his esteemed guests discuss their thoughts about the new presidency and what to expect in the next four years. How will the Obama presidency change our lives? Can he save this country from financial ruin? What does his economic stimulus plan mean to you at home? Can Obama live up to the hype -- or will our hopes be dashed?
Inside Editions Deborah Norville recaps the highlights from the inauguration, and Ann Coulter, controversial author and conservative commentator, gives her opinions on President Barack Obama.
The average six year old exhibits more class and comportment than this Democrat constituency of sixties retreads, naive losers, and criminals.
