Is there no solidarity among the Roberts of the world? Granted the first interview with the new president during one of the inaugural balls last night, Robin Roberts devoted a chunk of her precious time to laying the blame for the flubbing of the oath of office at the feet of Chief Justice John Roberts.
Pres. Obama responded graciously, acknowledging that both he and the Chief Justice made their mistakes. And indeed, NBCs Pete Williams, analyzing things at First Read this morning, points out that it was Obama who goofed first, jump[ing] in before the do solemnly swear phrase, which in turn seemed to throw Justice Roberts off. But that didnt stop Roberts for putting the rap entirely on John Roberts . . .
ROBIN ROBERTS: During the taking the oath of office, Chief Justice Roberts inadvertently switched some words up. You were trying to help him out there.

Obama choked ...then Roberts had to help him.
Drudge had it on his site 3 seconds after it happened.
And yes I did watch the oath, and the musical quartet preceeding.
I was pleased to hear Aaron Copeland's beautifully rendered piece...
..not impressed with Aretha.
AuntB is right, at least according to the transcript I read.
This is a tempest in a teapot, a distinction without a difference, a... oh, forget it.
Here’s the oath:
“I, name, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and I will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
Here’s what Roberts said:
ROBERTS: I, Barack Hussein Obama
OBAMA: I, Barack
ROBERTS:
do solemnly swear
OBAMA: I, Barack Hussein Obama, do solemnly swear
ROBERTS:
that I will execute...
He left out ‘faithfully’.
You can disagree, but Roberts screwed it up and neither one of them recovered.
I find it embarrassing for Roberts and he should have just started over.
whatever..

“whatever..”
Guenevere, we’ve already lost if we play the left’s game of distorting obvious fact.
BO jumping the gun threw Roberts off and it cascaded into bumbling. Fortunately, MSNBC only plays it from the point where things are going smootly...just like it never happened.
I am amazed that two of the smartest men in America couldn’t get this simple task right. And they said Bush was bumble mouthed.
So...can we still impeach him?
LOL!
HA hA!
Exactly!
You must be one of those long-embedded scum-sucking trolls to be able to say that to AuntB!
TROLL ALERT!
Doubt it, misstating an oath wording is not a high crime nor impeachable.
Exactly, and there is a long line of msm's puckering up behind her.
Ok but they still tried to impeach Bush. I say payback time.
For the first time, in our posts to each other, fwiw, I disagree with you.
Obama choked ...then Roberts had to help him.
FWIW I think that Obama stepped on Roberts' line first, Roberts went wrong next, and by the time it was over I am not sure that Obama actually repeated the entire oath correctly, even though Roberts thought that he had.Neither one of them covered themselves with glory; Obama shouldn't actually need the traditional prompting and Roberts should have gotten it right. It was an equal-opportunity lashup.
If you want to get technical about it, Obama screwed up first because he interrupted Justice Roberts instead of waiting for Justice Roberts to finish. Reading it may not look that way, but if you listen to it, there’s no doubt. Then Justice Roberts messed up but did correct himself; however, Obama didn’t catch on. It’s really understandable since everybody was a little nervous, but I wish Obama and his leftist cohorts would at least admit the truth here. If they can’t do something so simple as that now, what is in store for us down the road?
“f you want to get technical about it, Obama screwed up first because he interrupted Justice Roberts instead of waiting for Justice Roberts to finish.”
Goodness. O interrupted Roberts because he was saying the oath wrong....READ...Roberts left out the word faithfully before O opened his mouth.
My goodness, I hope most people don’t serve on juries. I’m outta here for a while, you all carry on over this nonsense because there must NOT be anything else more important.
