Obama and McCain Love Fest
The Examiner ^ | 2009-01-20 | Martha R. Gore

The old cliche "politics make strange bedfellows" could not be truer as Obama honored his political rival, Senator John McCain, at an honorary dinner the night before the inauguration. During the 2008 campaign, there were heated exchanges between the two over domestic and foreign policy that were sometimes personal in nature.

On Monday night, January 19, 2009, Obama referred to the former Vietnam prisoner as a war hero who understood better than most really matters in politics. Obama called for a new spirit of cooperation in Washington. Obama began the speech saying, "I am here tonight to say a few words about an American hero who I have come to know very well and admire very much--Senator John McCain." It was a far cry from the anger and bitterness displayed during the presidential campaign.

Later, McCain spoke about his appreciation of being honored at the dinner by Obama. He commented that the two would not always agree but gave his word to support the new new White House in addressing the challenges facing the nation. In a copy of his remarks, he added, "I give my pledge to my former opponent, my new president, I will do the best I can to help you in the work ahead."

Judas at least got paid for his treachery. And then he had the decency to regret what he had done.

I have decided that McCain knew he was going to lose from the get go. He ran a weak campaign so the press would not demonize him. All of the VP Candidates knew that they would have to be the attack dog and they and their families would be demonized by the press. Pawlenty, Romney, DeMint and Thompson all had the good sense to say NO. So McCain picked Sarah Palin and she was eviscerated and is still being eviscerated by the Press. She, not being a Washington insider, thought he as being sincere and the country needed her.

She was the sacrificial lamb. Note that she was not invited to the dinner. Note that Meghan McCain says that Sarah is the one thing she will not discuss publicly about her campaign experience. Note that McCain is now the “trusted, inveterate, crossing the aisle republican” laptog of President Platypus.

The RNC is a joke. In fact the two party system is a joke. WE have the press and Bill Mayer, Saturday Night Live and MTV deciding who is “relevant and cool” enough to be in Washington.

So we have Caroline Kennedy and Hillary Clinton and McCain. Conservatives are hated in this country. Christians are demonized unless they are Rick Warren who is the McCain of evangelicals (Christian in name only). We are irrevelant and jeered like the crazy uncle in the closet.

Whatever we say is eye rolling and laughable. We have no real voice in American anymore. Rush Limbaugh is laughed at all the way to the bank. He is rich but we are poorer after 15 years of listening to him. Same goes for Hannity et al.

Forget organizing, pouting, writing books or buying books by Coulter etc. WE have no hope unless God gives us a leader that galvanizes us as Reagan did. Palin is possible but only if the press does not totally kill her image. Which they will because she resonates with so many of us.

You can’t plan a revival. And we need a spiritual, cultural, political and moral revival in this country.

Lets look at the military for our leaders. Perhaps Petraueus or a young general we haven’t heard of yet. The elite conservative blogsphere is following the pied piper down the road. Michelle Malkin is so depressing. She is cynical and jaded. Cynical and jaded does not a revival make. Mark Steyn is looking out after his paycheck and who can blame him.

Revival people, nothing less will do. And it is all out of our hands now. We are the underdogs, the pitiful fringe, the kooks and nutters. Get use to it.

I’ll say one thing. He’s a hell of a lot friendlier to Obama after losing to him than he was to W after he lost to him!

Ah, yes.

But the question keeps cropping up in my mind:

“Which of these turkeys do I despise the most?”

Tuff one for me to answer. *S*

I understand that for a political bribe of 1 million or more to Obama that you get to spend the night in the Lincoln (excuse me, I mean the Obama) bedroom and Michelle will provide “room” service!

I did, here goes:

Dear Meghan,
I write this with great disappointment regarding your interview with Fox and Friends this morning. You cannot comment with regard to Governor Palin? That is just shameful—I am truly sorry that I voted for your father. You may want to look up the word “honor” in the dictionary.

And, I wonder what the chances of McCain being defeated in the next Republican primary are. He isn’t nearly as popular in his home state as most long-term incumbents are.
