The GOP’s pathetic behavior gets worse by the day. We have no representation at all now in Washington. Big government rules the day, and our team has lead the way in the expansion, now we must ALL get along. Never mind that 47% of the voters detest this President and fight hard to defeat him, now we must promote his agenda.

I can’t wait for the next call from the RNC.

The only thing that is preventing me from giving up any hope is the last two times the government went all Dem was Carter and then Clinton in 92. In both cases, we had a revival shortly thereafter. The first time it was the Reagan movement, the second time it was from within Congress. This time, it has to come from outside of Washington...a new vision and voice for limited government. Those already in Washington are poisoned already.

When CNBC's Larry Kudlow emerged from dinner at Will's house describing Obama as "charming" and talking about how he was so overwhelmed by Obama's presence that he couldn't even remember what they had for dinner, I felt as if I were going to be sick.

As I sit here reading these remarks it reminds me of my first presidential election. Barry Goldwater had just been soundly defeated by LBJ, in the House the Democrats had won 36 seats giving them an overall total of 68% of house seats. In the Senate the Republicans held their losses to 2 seats but the Democrats still controlled 68 seats, the Republicans only 32.
I still remember the calls by people like Nelson Rockefeller that the party needed to take “a new direction” -to the left of course. Republicans were disheartened, defeated and demoralized and some even said it would take a generation to rebuild the party.

Two years later a former actor named Reagan was elected Governor of California and two years after that Nixon won the White House.
Granted this is a different Republican party but it goes to show how even the worst setbacks are not as bad as they first appear and can sometime generate great opportunities
