No one gets the fascination with Michelle Obama, fashion plate, more than her husband.
Invoking another president with a glamorous wifethat would be, maybe, John F. Kennedy? President Obama told military guests at the Commander in Chief Ball last night, I have the special honor of being the guy who accompanied Michelle Obama to the ball.
That got a big laugh, but it would be a few minutes before the first lady made her entrance, in an ivory chiffon dress. But when she did, oh, what a roar.
It was an amazing day for Mrs. Obama chic and bone-chilling, and maybe at times her feet hurt. For Tuesday nights round of balls, she chose a fluffy, many-layered gown by a 26-year-old designer named Jason Wu. The dress had a one-shoulder strap and was flecked with organza flowers and crystals.
If Mrs. Obama is a different and more stylish first lady than the country has seen in a while, she proved it Tuesday with some striking fashion choices. The Wu gown was perhaps not as sophisticated as the coat-and-dress ensemble she wore for the swearing-in, but it still made a statement.
As for her vivid yellow inaugural outfit, it seemed designed to stand out against the traditional red and somber black coats on the Capitol steps.
Here is a bolder woman, a serious woman from Chicago and Harvard who is not afraid to express herself with fashion, and it is the kind of confidence that many women will recognize in themselves. Her clothes tell us that she has an adventurous spirit, as well as a sense of humor, and if some of these garments have almost an old-fashioned womanly quality, then they tell us that she is indeed not your average fashionista.

what day did she become glamorous? before or after she finally found some liking for this country?
Made her look heavy. She is a very tall woman. Something sheathy would have worked better.
At least Nancy married a man with a functional brain!
If you want to roll on the floor laughing, go to this page and look at post #350. I am still laughing.
I feel really sorry for these guys. No class, no taste, and obviously don’t take very good fashion advice.
It is going to be a long four years.

I heard that she has refused the advise of fashion professionals. That was revealed after the black widow dress incident. She really should take advantage of her position and enlist the aid of experts. Look at what they do on makeover shows. Any woman no matter how unattractive or attractive can look better with the right clothes, hair and makeup.
But hay..let's hope Michelle does not get any help and tells anyone to take a leap. Her lack of fashion sense can be our fun part of the next four miserable years.
Dang I had not seen those green shoes. And she wore pantyhose? Really? I thought those “were painful”?
Wal-Mart will do whatever they demand of it now that they are in power
When she arrived at the White House...
That LINK is no good to see Michelle...
got to be a member...
Anyone have pics of the ivory dress Monday
and the Tuesday night fluff ???
The woman is ungainly in her height (which appears to be even taller than The One, at least in heels), and she’s built like a cardboard tube with legs. She has no waist. She also can’t seem to stand up straight. The white dress was Not A Success. If your’re going to wear a dress that depends on your having a eensy teensy wittle waist, well, you’d better actually HAVE a waist.
I was okay with the yellow dress this morning, except for the sparkly attached collar and all the beading. Now, I luuvs me some sparkles, and I have been known to wear beaded and even rhinestoned items during daylight, if I thought they were amusing or cute — but I did not have the eyes of the nation on me at the time. For a formal occasion *during the daytime,* such as an inauguration, the sparkly stuff was seriously, seriously inappropriate. (But why am I surprised? Everything that family does seems to be inappropriate in one way or another.)
Madame Obama needs to get a fashion adviser who (a) actually has an eye for fashion, (b) understands the meaning of “protocol,” and (c) is willing to tell The First Lady that she looks like a brick with legs in some outfits.
When I woke up today, a tan Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy and Abraham Lincoln were married and living in the White House. Or at least that’s what they said in the press.
I bet even the Gays couldn’t stand her!
Oh, puhleeeeaaase!!! It's not even close. Michelle looked like a linebacker in that awful white dress, as she does in many of her choices. The woman is way too tall, too big boned and has horrible taste. She's nothing like Jackie O, and isn't nearly as pretty.
Laura Bush is much closer to Jackie O, than Michelle. Funny we never heard that from the press, though. sarc/
The outfit Laura wore today was stunning. She made a far more attractive appearance then Michelle. If I were Mrs. Obama, I'd enlist Laura and some of her fashion advisers and fast.
My disgust, and not wanting details about what the first lady or the kiddies was wearing makes me an “indughvidual”
Hey! there could have been sparkes comming out of someones ass! and I could not give a lying monkeys ass about what they wore, none of em, note “I’m gonna spend my rebate check on a braclet” Momma Obama. And the kids, we’s got’s to respect the childrens yes, cept when they verifiyable or whateva, , hey I’m ust sayin if you want a poltical statement in a news insert, sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind...
And I don't get this morning's outfit at all. Yellow with goosesh*t green gloves and blue-green shoes. And some sort of big silver-rhinestone necklace. The shoes and gloves didn't match or co-ordinate with each other. Nothing matched.
And she wore the brocade couch covering and matching drapery fabric to the inaugaration. LOL!
The yellow color was better, however, but the ball gown was absolutely ugly.
Looked like grandma’s old tattered chenille bathrobe with lumps on it.
The ivory...
Can you say PROM DRESS ????
she needs to save that for one of her girls when they turn 16...
You know, they used to say the same thing about Princess Diana and after awhile, she learned how to dress better!!
Michelle’s not my favorite person, but I’ll go out on a limb here and say that I *liked* the gold outfit she wore earlier today—the color looked good with her skin color, IMO.
Of course, I’m not Mr. Blackwell or anything, but at this early stage, I don’t think it’s fair to attack her like this—not very seemly, if you catch my drift.
