Now Obama Debuts Pledge to Make Guns 'Childproof'

Surprising very few of us, we see that once in office, Obama is more open about his gun control efforts at WhiteHouse.gov:

Address Gun Violence in Cities: Obama and Biden would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent.

How, precisely, does the Obama Administration plan on "making guns in this country childproof"? Mandatory trigger locks?

Next thing you know, he is also going to want “safer bullets.”

Bingo. If you can’t outlaw it, you can regulate it to death. Call it the “tobacco strategy”.

I think we need a one pen a month law. “The pen is mightier than the sword” after all, and words can cause riots. Also, all pens will need to be registered with the federal government. And they will need to be childproof......can any lib see how silly this is applied to the 1st Amendmend? Looks just as silly on the 2nd.

"They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent."

I'll be buying a few in the coming months. Thanks for the advance warning.

The original "assault weapons" ban was useless, and just stupid. They couldn't outright ban semi automatic rifles, without stepping on too many toes, causing a national outrage, so they decided to control how rifles could be made based on their characteristics. Basically, all of the so called "assault weapons" could still be made, they just couldn't have a flash suppressor, bayonet lug, or adjustable stock.

Well, that certainly didn’t take long.

Should be fun to go to the gun boards and check out what the Obama ass-kissers are saying. These are the idiots that have been saying for two years that Osama will have his hands too full with Iraq and the economy to “worry about guns”.

Besides, he supports the Second Amendment (yeah, to the Soviet Constitution).

I’m glad I saved some of those “fear and paranoia” stories we were treated to with regard to elevated gun sales as a result of Obama’s election. Yeah, those crazy gun owners thought that he’d go back on his pledge to respect the Second Amendment. What were we thinking?

Welcome to the new USA...United Socialist America.

Seriously, if you didn’t see this crap comin’ raise yer hand...either one, we won’t complicate your life by making you choose. You obviously don’t choose too well.

Holy crap...it’s the living breathing Constitution brought back to life...with the libtards defining what commonsense is. I, for one never, saw that coming.(s/off)

For a guy that has a child’s understanding of guns and our Constitution, this doesn’t surprise me.

I believe Obama knows precisely what the Second Amendment means and why it was written: to stop him from doing what he wants. That's why he wants to undermine it.

I dont want my guns childproof. My 9 year old son knows how to load and shoot his mom's Ruger 10/22. In fact, he did so well (no glasses, fixed stock not his size, original sights), that I'm thinking I need add some target grade hardware and start going to the range more often with him. In a couple of years, he might be good enough to go competitive.

Let ‘em vote for gun control, as long as all the votes are recorded, roll-call votes.

“You can’t buy new Glocks, Springfields, Kimbers, and many many other perfectly good handguns here.”

That is simply criminal.

I recently purchased a new Kimber and it is one of the finest guns I have ever seen.

I'd certainly vote to re-institute literacy tests...

Hardly a week goes by that we don’t hear about some 6 or 8 year old taking the family SUV for a spin. So if we can’t keep the kiddies out of a keyed device, how do they propose to childproof a gun?

Local Gestapo units coming to all cities very soon. The Obama Mafia will be coming to take over for local law enforcement.

Stupid move by Obummer. Real good way to lose control of Congress pretty quick. The Dems won control of Congress in ‘06 by having a bunch of Dems run pretending they were conservatives.

Introduce gun control and I bet a lot of those folks don’t get re-elected.

"Besides, he supports the Second Amendment"

I could be mistaken, but I don't believe any questions about the 2nd Amendment were asked in either the Presidential or Vice-Presidential debates. Once again, the MSM covering the asses of the Dummies. The moderators knew that this would be one issue neither Obama nor Biden could be straight on. So, they just didn't ask it.
