Now Obama Debuts Pledge to Make Guns 'Childproof'

Surprising very few of us, we see that once in office, Obama is more open about his gun control efforts at WhiteHouse.gov:

Address Gun Violence in Cities: Obama and Biden would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent.

How, precisely, does the Obama Administration plan on "making guns in this country childproof"? Mandatory trigger locks?

Most likely. He sure has his administration's priorities straight, doesn't he? There really isn't much more important than this going on in our country! < /sarc>

Make Guns 'Childproof'

Keep them away from children.

Require the Eddie Eagle Gunsafe program in all schools.

I'm sure that's what Obama is thinking about.

Guns are designed by their nature to kill people. Mostly bad people and yes, children have used them effectively in this manner.

Bad people and bad governments have guns pointed at them all the time- it's called freedom.(visit Gaza in the springtime) Those who would support any effort to limit access to guns are essentially 'bad' people.

LOL, hey you may be on to something. We need a childproof lock so he doesn’t go off half cocked and hurt the nation. Good call.

" Buy them now ... that AWB is coming hard and fast."

I actually found an brand new AR on the shelf today at a local gun store. I have had NO luck finding them, so a couple of times per week, I'll call around to every gun shop in my area. This morning I talked to a shop that had gotten in 6 ARs a couple of days ago and had only 1 left. I didn't have the cash handy to purchase it outright, so I threw down $100 and put it on layaway. It feels great just knowing I've secured one, if nothing else. This works out good for me, because I had a guy(non-dealer) that was going to sell me two of them on a private sale, but he changed his mind. He was asking a bit much for them anyway for being used. I'm glad I found a new one on the rebound.

“I could be mistaken, but I don’t believe any questions about the 2nd Amendment were asked in either the Presidential or Vice-Presidential debates.”

In one of the Dem. debates using YouTube questions, a viewer cradling an AR-15 said that it was “his baby” and would the candidates protect his gun rights...

Biden said the man was essentially a mental case for thinking of his gun that way, and probably shouldn’t own firearms at all. In fact, watch it yourself, Biden answers second after Richardson:
