WASHINGTON — Amid the outpouring of inaugural joy over the racial progress represented by President Barack Obama, there was a single, humorous mention of work still to be done.

After the first black president had been sworn in, Rev. Joseph Lowery' ended his benediction with a rhyme familiar to black churchgoers:

"We ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around..."

There was laughter from the enormous crowd. The 87-year-old civil rights pioneer continued:

"When yellow will be mellow, when the red man can get ahead, man; and when white will embrace what is right. That all those who do justice and love mercy say Amen."

The crowd thundered, "Amen!"

A hit? I thought it was crass and uncalled for. American whites just made Barack Hussien Obama President of the United States and Lowery still calls on us to "embrace what is right."

I dont think it was humorous at all and totally out of place.

This article is from the Asspress, a group of gushing communists not fit to wipe the floor in a bus station restroom.

That Newsmax would publish this tripe shows how far they’ve fallen. That bigot, Lowery didn’t even lay down a good bunt.

His commentary about (insert minority here) finally having a place at the table and may the white guy finally after all these centuries do the right thing was appalling, considering what today was: the inauguration of America’s first black(ish) president, after white folks voted him in. Shameful.

Screw Reverend Lowery and the people that agree with him.

“Rev.” Lowery:

It was white people who, for the first time in the history of the world said, “We are strong enough to enslave other people, but it is wrong, and we are not going to do it any more.”

It was white people who then pressed the rest of the (non-white) world to give up slavery. It was legal in parts of the Arab world until the 20th century.

It was white people who set up a government of laws guaranteeing them freedom. But that freedom presumed and required that individuals “embrace right” by regulating their own behavior, providing for their families, obeying the laws, respecting the property of others, and being productive.

It was white people who kept that system going and productive, and created a country which has given more freedom and prosperity to its citizens — of all colors — than any other country in the world.

It was white people who passed the civil rights laws that gave Obama and other minorities advantages that they could never have gotten on their own merits.

It is tens of millions of white people who have worked hard and paid the taxes that have supported millions of non-whites. I, personally, have had enough of my income confiscated each year to support the spawn of a couple of skanks who can’t keep their knees together, and who are being raised to think I owe them even more.

Any person of any color who “embraces right” in this country can get ahead. “Embracing right” means work before pleasure, paying rent before buying bling, marriage before children, and all the other daily choices that constitute “embracing right.”

Damn you, you nasty old race baiter.

It wasn’t humorous and trying to put that spin on it is ticking off some liberals I’ve talked to this afternoon.

They were appalled.

Well he is right you know. Embracing Obama isn’t embracing what is right. Maybe Lowery is a closet conservative?

Lowery began his benediction by reciting the third verse of the hymn Lift Every Voice and Sing by James Johnson (c. 1900), which is sometimes called the Black National Anthem.

There were several low points during the day, but this scene was undoubtedly the lowest.

Wonder if the speeches were approved ahead of time and Obammy knew this racist was going to say what he did.

The same Joseph Lowery who at the funeral service of Coretta Scott King delivered the following remarks to embarrass President Bush: We know, now, there were no weapons of mass destruction over there -- but Coretta knew, and we know that there are weapons of misdirection right down here.

He has become just another race hustler.

The Rev. sounded like he had snorted a pint or two of Hennessy before he dropped his rhyming pearls of wisdom on the world.

At least the French will like us more now that Barry is bringing in poets that don’t rhyme and Reverends that do.

"A hit? I thought it was crass and uncalled for"

It was a Hit directed at white people who now clearly have targets painted on their backs.

"when whites embrace what is right." is code for Slavery Reparations.

Does Lowery shine shoes? Just thought I’d ask. He must be good for something. Inspiration is not his thing.

The fascists wasted no time reminding the nation that just because we elected a black president doesn't mean that we're not a bunch of white racists. We're racists because we're white, and we always will be, no matter what we do.

The liberal's definition of a "racist" -
"A RACIST: A racist is one who is both privileged and socialized on the basis of race by a white supremacist (racist) system. The term applies to all white people (i.e., people of European descent) living in the United States, regardless of class, gender, religion, culture or sexuality. By this definition, people of color cannot be racists, because as peoples within the U.S. system, they do not have the power to back up their prejudices, hostilities, or acts of discrimination. (This does not deny the existence of such prejudices, hostilities, acts of rage or discrimination.)"
