Norma McCorvey, Former Roe, Records New Television Commercial on Abortion

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Norma McCorvey, the former Jane Roe of the infamous Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision, has recorded a new television commercial speaking out against abortion. The commercial is running on stations in several states as the part of educational campaigns pro-life groups are undertaking.

"Back in 1973, I was a very confused twenty-one year old with one child and facing an unplanned pregnancy," she says in the ad. "At the time I fought to obtain a legal abortion, but truth be told, I have three daughters and never had an abortion."

"Upon knowing God. I realize that my case which legalized abortion on demand, was the biggest mistake of my life," McCorvey says about her conversion to Christianity and adopting a pro-life position.

McCorvey condemns the fact that the case that carried her fictitious name resulted in approximately 50 million abortions in the thirty-six years since then.

She concludes the 60 second ad with the words: "You read about me in history books, but now I am dedicated to spreading the truth about preserving the dignity of all human life from natural conception to natural death.”

VirtueMedia, a non-profit pro-life group based in Arizona that has produced dozens of professional pro-life commercials on abortion and other pro-life topics, is behind the new ad.

The group tells LifeNews.com that McCorvey's commercial has been airing heavily this month in Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Nebraska, and other states across the nation.

"There have been overwhelmingly positive responses from viewers who have seen the ad, yet, on the flip side, there have also been many controversial responses from those against protecting the sanctity of life," the group said.

"It is evident by these emails, that McCorvey's courage to speak out on the evils of abortion, and her redemptive story, is touching hearts, changing minds -- and again creating controversy -- but now, from the other side," it continued.

VirtueMedia uses the immense reach and impact of media to give a voice to those who cannot speak for themselves- the unborn, aged, and most vulnerable.

Their creative ads are licensed to Right to Life groups, and have aired across North America and foreign countries in both English and Spanish.

So, other than the fact that she lied, why will you not forgive her?

Also, I post about a third of the pro-life threads on FR and read most of the other ones. I don’t recall EVER seeing you on any pro-life threads before. This has raised my suspicions, because while it SEEMS that you are just being critical of McCorvey, you are ACTUALLY attacking pro-life efforts as a whole.

no, you called her a lying bitch which was a present day application to her character; and with that statement you are wrong.

Paul also wrote the most books of the Bible, was the greatest missionary, and paid dearly for his love for Christ. He was so sorry for his earlier mistakes that he referred to himself as the greatest sinner of all. Paul was possibly the greatest person in the NT outside of Christ. The only ones to come close to him were Peter and John.

And Paul PROVED not only that conversion was possible, but also that God could use our greatest sins for the benefit of others.

I still get the impression that soon you will say, “I was just kidding guys.” Furthermore, your word choice and slang does lead me to believe that maybe you are a 14 year old like one of the other forum members stated. Come clean with us, we will forgive you.

You are right; and I believe he is doing that in my life. I like the way you worded that at the end.

My faith has always been strengthened when I meet someone who used to be one person and no longer is the same person and it is because God CHANGED THEM, the power to change who we are at the core DOES NOT derive from us, it can only come from Him.

Many do not know why the case brought forth. At the time, McCorvey had already delivered the child and the case was moot.

Later McCorvey recanted her testimony, was not held in contempt of court, but the case went on anyway. Go figure.

The case was NEVER about McCorvey’s baby, they could have easily found a doctor to perform an illegal abortion if that was what she really wanted. Roe v. Wade was about clearing the way to kill 50 MILLION other babies.

Remember The LORD’s prayer, forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. I have had people that I could not forgive until I asked God to forgive them through me. It takes the poser of The Holy Spirit to obey The LORD. Do not try to do it without His help, but please do it. You will feel much, much better. A huge weight will be lifted from your soul. God bless and help you as only He can through Jesus Christ our LORD.
