"This administration has had a good, solid record, and I'm very proud of it. I tell people I leave town with a great sense of accomplishment and my head held high.
George W. Bush, Jan. 13, 2009
As the 43rd president waves goodbye to Washington, relatively few Americans share his proud assessment of his own presidency.
George W. Bush leaves the White House with one of the lowest approval ratings in history. According to Gallup, only Richard Nixon and Harry Truman, who suffered the double whammy of a bad economy and the unpopular Korean War, had lower approval ratings when they left the White House.
Today, Bushs legacy to his successor is two unresolved wars, a global image that is deeply tarnished, and the greatest economic crisis in modern times.
Conservatives who backed Bush in two successive elections have little to show for their efforts. Bush, in fact, has decimated the Republican brand.
Bush oversaw the greatest increase in discretionary social spending in history as the federal government usurped new powers in its war on terror. He placed the United States on a global interventionist path for the elusive goal of democracy. Ronald Reagan would not be able to recognize the party he knew, which espoused limited government, protection of personal liberty, and the idea that the U.S. should lead globally by example rather than by force.

Alright, I’ve got no argument with you either.
From your post: " strap on their metaphorical kneepads and service their boy"
Really, your denial isn't going to change the facts about your hidden passions.
Funny you would already know about such a thread.
So you admit you can't read that thread title that's on the top of the forum page?
So either you're admitting you can't read or, again, you're lying...and in denial.
Seek help.
> Seriously though, what sort of loserdom leads a fat old man like yourself to involve yourself in another countrys politics to the point that you argue with Americans about what Americans should do for American when you arent even an American?
Perhaps I love Liberty, Freedom and America as much as or more than you do? Just guessing.
As to being a fat old man, flattery will get you nowhere. I will wake up tomorrow in a free country run by a conservative government. You, on the other hand...
> Shove off, kiwi. Focus on your own little loser country and let us tend to our own matters.
Now there’s a scary thought. On current performance you would have difficulty running an orgy in a brothel or a booze-up in a brewery — far less your own matters.
Left to your own devices you’ve bankrupted the world economy and put a marxist muslim in the Oval Office during a time of war in the Middle East, with nuclear-capable whackadoos itching to press the red button. Smooth Move, Ex-Lax: this is not America’s finest hour.
No, your best bet is to call in a Receiver and have your matters placed under Administration, at least until they get sorted out. I think I’ll stick around for a while, thanks.
you can say that again and it all went downhill after amnesty-Harriet Meirs
hey man, folks can discuss Bush’s faults without hating him
i sure don’t but I supported the heck out of him in 2 runs and feel quite let down
I’m with you on the first part but on the subprime bust and bailout, Bush has been POTUS 8 years, he can’t skate that one scot free
maybe they should have beat up Frank-Dodd a bit more
Some folks here do, indeed, hate him, though. And those of us who don't have as much right to defend him as those who are so quick with the insults toward someone who's doing the toughest job in the world.
Plus, the things they hate Bush for are things they don't hate others for--that's my biggest issue with the haters.
But just because you criticize doesn't mean you hate. Heck, I criticize him plenty.
Darkwolf...your original post sounded like a challenge. ;o)
I have my own disagreements with Bush, but I certainly don’t hate him.
As a matter of fact, I admire his dedication to keep this country safe.
One downer is amnesty, though.
I admire many things about Bush, and think Zero’s supporters buyer’s remorse will kick in pretty soon.
man I hope so.....the mass obamagasm we all had to witness today was nauseating
Welp...I didn’t witness it. ;o)
I slept in, and didn’t turn on any media until I knew it was a done deal.
Then...it was Rush...and only one ear listening.
I heard a number of strangers today just going on and on
white educated kids...
at Vandy mostly
Ha!
That was silly of you!
;o)
I have to wonder about what the words “white educated” means.
His supporters seem locked into this one thought: "Make the rich pay!!!" Whatever doesn't catch in that filter confuses them.
I didn’t watch...I was in barf mode...
...but, Lordy!
If you are right, then no worries.
It’s good to “see” you.
;o)
More projection, as you seek to deflect your own hidden depravity.
It ain’t workin’ Chester.
That's not what happened in 2000 with the OBL issue.
Bush didn't raise the immigration issue at all until he issued his victory statement. That's when he informed his fellow Republicans that they'd just affirmatively voted to open the borders.
Bait and switch. Conservative going into the primary, then OBL party-line coming out.
Bears-repeating bump. BTTT.
Also worth bearing in mind: The snarks and snakes who bit Bush's ankles so perfervidly to get the White House back for the 'Rats, live on one of the largest bullseyes on the planet -- one that got nailed in the ten-ring on 9/11.
If the Iranians get The Bomb, guess where they're going to test it?
Katie Couric might as well just grab her ankles when she sees the big flash.
