Oscar-winning actor Lou Gossett Jr. will be in Boston tomorrow to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day with the Boston Childrens Chorus at the nationally televised Raising The Roof concert.
But dont expect to see the An Officer and a Gentleman star at the Inaugural Purple Ball in D.C. this week, because Lou and the organizers have parted ways - and not on the best of terms!

Gosset has never really struck me as a 100% "Hollywood Herd Animal." Anyone who can turn out the great performance that he did in Enemy Mine has to have a reasonable head on his shoulders.

Enemy Mine is a greatly under rated movie. Gosset gave and amazing performance.

I’m not exactly sure how Patricia Arquette, Bill Harris, Jimmy Smits, Halle Berry, Eva Longoriaand and Edward James Olmos were supposed to entertain. I mean, were they gonna give dramatic readings?

I have heard of two of those celebrities and could pick maybe one out of a lineup (not including Barry O)

I mean, were they gonna give dramatic readings? Maybe they'll read passages from "Dreams of My Father" and other Bill Ayers books.

I thought Brion James stole the movie.

Now Gosset knows, there is no true diversity. He needs to stand back from the Matrix and view what is really going on.

I thought Brion James stole the movie. It took me forever to realize that Nick Nolte was saying "Kehoe" instead of "Keyhole" (as possibly a replacement for a-hole") for Brion James' role in 48 Hours...God rest his soul.

Wow, no one’s posted a screenshot yet of his role as an Ori Prior? With an Obama pin photoshopped in?

I read somewhere about him that he lives a fairly simple life centered around a large sailboat. And supposedly a pretty intelligent man.
Sailing without a crew eventually involves math, reality, and judgement. Hes supposed to actually be pretty professional in matters of sailing.
Even though im sickened at the thought of Obama, I can see how a black American might be pretty excited about it. But its nice that Gossett has limits and walked.

I think the idea is to just stand there and bask in their presence. Absorb the aura of their magnificence. All they need do for that is be in the room.
