THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION

During my second month of night school, our professor gave a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the questions, until I read the last one: "What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?"

Obviously this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50s, but how would I know her name? I handed in my paper leaving the last question blank.

Before class ended, one student asked if the last question would count on our quiz grade. "Absolutely," said the professor. "In your lives, in your careers, you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care."

I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her first name was Dorothy.

We’re pretty much packed ... at least I am. My wonderful DH will finish packing his stuff tomorrow. A friend will take us to the airport at 4am Tuesday morning. (EEEEEK!) It will be nice to miss the inauguration and non-stop Obama coverage because we’ll be flying across the Pacific and then on vacation! As always, a good friend will come by once a day to take care of the kitties.

Philly...((HUGS))...good early, early morning. Nice quiet day. Many chores to do, mostly done. Little bit of rain early, but all snow now gone from the roof, and mostly from the driveway. Street is ALL ice.
