Casey Arneson may not get the award for Most Righteous Nonsmoker of the Year, but he should probably be a nominee -- depending how you feel about the continuing war between smokers and nonsmokers.

Arneson, 22, won the battle outside of the Depot tavern, at 627 W. Main St., in the early morning hours of Dec. 27, but he may have lost his personal war when he was charged Friday with battery for punching a smoker.

So I repeat my question.

Has anyone ever blown smoke in your face or were you just blowin’ smoke?

Grey,

Don’t expect an honest answer. Smoke nazis are for the most part liberal liars with crappy lives whose only goal is to make everybody else as miserable as they are. They are also usually low man at work and know that they have peaked and this is the best it will get for them so they pretend to have some measure of authority.

Pathetic really.

Actually, what is pathetic is your lame attempt at a put down. But whatever. As for being a smoking nazi? Here's an honest answer - I don't give a damn if you smoke yourself to death.

On occasion, when I do go to a bar - I expect to have wade threw a crowd of smokers - that goes with the territory. However, when I go to a doctors appointment with my kids for a prenatal check up - I shouldn't have to walk through a cloud of smoke to get into the office as I did last week. But my anger turned to pity and then amusement. The guy entertained me while I waited to get in to see the doctor. You see, in the twenty minutes I waited; he finished his smoke (threw his butt on the sidewalk) came inside, waited 5 minutes and couldn't be without a cigarette in his hand for so long so had to run outside and light up again. All the while fidgeting like a crack addict. It would have been funny if it wasn't so sad.

Here’s an honest answer-I don’t give a damn if you die tomorrow.

Say. . . .I think I’ll do it again. . .should be fun.

I think I'll find out where you work, look up that bum, and pay him a hundred dollars to shit on your desk.

Won't that be a hoot?

Hey, here's a thought for ya. Why don't you designate an INDOOR smoking area for people. Then they won't be forced outside in inclement weather.

Well, I am a smoker, and I smoke outside. I happen to be the only smoker in a household of 5, so I choose to not share my vice.

If it were just my wife and I, and if we both smoked...

But that isn’t the situation.

You fit the smoke nazi profile to a tee.

What is sad is you are teaching your pathetic ways to your children. When there are no more smokers who are you going to teach them to hate?

“Well, until you have smoke blown in your face.”

Where have you had this happen lately? I have not seen or experienced this in a very long time and I like to frequent private property where smoking is allowed. If you don’t like to take the risk, maybe you should not enter private property where the owner is willing to allow this legal activity.

“it is getting tiresome to walk through the gauntlet of smoke from the dozen or so smokers huddled outside the entrance to the office building where I work.”

You can thank the legislation that banned the indoor smoking rooms. This is a great example of Thomas Sowell’s “stage 1 thinking.” Back in the good ole days, smoking was allowed in designated areas, now the anti smokers are complaining that smokers are outside. Well, they asked for this exact scenario.

“consitutionally protected actual rights.”

Ah, another “conservative” that believes the government grants rights and not that rights are inherent. I see now.

“I don’t smoke and I allow smoking in my home. I will not make my friends go stand out in freezing cold weather. They take enough abuse without me piling on.”

I have a friend that is just like you and I am very appreciative. Even though I know his “policy,” I will still try to be polite and ask for his permission before I smoke. I hope that our mutual respect will continue.

Not what I said.

Constitutionally PROTECTED rights, not granted rights.

Big difference.

Well, until you have smoke blown in your face.

I've been smoking since 1967 and I've never seen this happen.

why they won’t respect other’s rights and be civil and polite and not crowd the door?

If you and yours had left them (us) one place to smoke inside, they (me) would not be prone to crowd any doors.

But since you insist on smoking bans in places you would never go anyway, you get a little door crowding.

I think I’ll do it again. . .should be fun.

I have adopted the habit of using an unlit cigarette to clear the fat chicks out of the candy aisle at the grocery store.

It IS fun!

You are quite welcome to light up anywhere you are not intruding but that is not just anywhere.
