RUSH: Ladies and gentlemen, have you thought back to the 2008 election? Have you asked yourself who was responsible for that loss? Have you asked yourself who really should shoulder the blame and the burden for the defeat of Senator McCain? A lot of people have been speculating this, a lot of postmortems on the election. Let's go to the BBC. BBC World Service, host Stephen Sackur spoke with former McCain campaign manager Rick Davis and asked Rick Davis on whose shoulders rests the burden of the McCain defeat.
DAVIS: We didn't successfully reach out to them. I mean, but you look at the leadership John McCain gave which is counter to the direction that the party was headed, when you have the Rush Limbaughs of the world who, you know, literally almost feed the nativist attitude toward immigration reform, what do you think the Hispanic voter, the Latino voter is gonna remember? They're gonna remember the attacks, not the efforts by people like John McCain to try and reform.
RUSH: So there you have it, Rick Davis, the campaign manager for McCain, has dumped on my shoulders the reason McCain lost and others like me alienated Hispanic voters. This is so wrong on so many levels, but it explains why this campaign was so inept. A brief time-out. Just wanted you to hear that so you could stew over it.

Well .. good luck with that one .. seems most repubs are only interested in the democrat vote .. and not those of us who are conservative and never those of us who are Christian.
Not supporting RNC anymore .. I will only support those candidates who I believe uphold what I stand for .. it’s a better use of my money.

It wasn’t Rush’s listeners (Conservatives) who gave us McLame. It was that 30 million or so of those moderates who know little about him that gave us Juan McNasty.
Most of them either don’t like Rush, or they don’t know who he is. How else do these RINOs keep on getting elected?

McCain lost because you can’t have two democrats running for president at the same time. RETIRE NOW! If I hear “MY FRIENDS” one more time I will puke.

Oy Vey!!! I would not wish that choice on anyone! But, if I had to.....Ron.Yes, I voted for Ron Paul in the Virginia Republican Primary.
He makes a good point on non-interventionism, but he goes a little overboard way too much, effectively making himself look like a kook. Aside from that, on everything else, he was the only conservative choice on the ballot.
McCain was a Big Government Democrat, and Huckabee is a statist religious nutjob.

EXACTLY!
I don’t live in AZ and I don’t want ILLEGALS!
I WANT our laws on the books NOW, enforced.
THAT issue really pissed me off.
Maybe McPain should step down from his wife’s wealth and see how the other half lives and support the ILLEGALS.

Everybody decided to go puritan and they decided to stay home.
Election after election has been voting for the lesser of two evils. The problem with that is that you still end up with one of the evils.
The GOP either wakes up (after their slaughter in 06 and their defeat in 08) and get back to their core, or they will continue to face future defeats.
If the GOP continues to move leftward, which they seem destined to do, they will continue to be the minority party.
The GOP seems complacent and content to be the minority party, however. They led the government most of the last decade, and they didn't do a very stellar job of it. Maybe they just want to stay the minority party -- they do seem to like it -- and the pay is the same, whether one is a minority senator or rep or a majority one.

Blaming McCain for “lack of balls”, not conservative enough, not campaigning enough, etc., etc. is utter nonsense.
McCain lost because he was on the Republican ticket.
There is no Republican who could have won last November.

John McCain lost because he is John McCain. It was his record that we looked at and not the smooth sounding platitudes he uttered. He put Sarah Palin on the ticket to appease us. Most of the votes he received were like my vote. I voted for Sarah Palin and against Caligula. John McCain just happened to be on the ticket.
It is a coward, and I never before thought this of John McCain, who blames his own failures and short-comings on other people.

McCain lost because of how he handled the bailout. He was in trouble before that, but that put the nail in his coffin.

I think Rush should have spent a little more time analyzing and focusing on the GOP candidates, rather than being mesmerized by Hillary Clinton, and we might actually have gotten a better candidate. I actually quit listening to him for awhile, Same here, it was sick!!!

I was not going to vote for McCain before Sarah Palin was chosen as his running mate..She is the only reason I voted..The only one that will believe this nonsense is a Dem..I think McCain needs to put a muzzle on these idiots that represents him..He will never get another vote from me which he didn't in the first place my vote was for Sarah..
