Menifee County voted for Obama

FRENCHBURG — Menifee County was never part of the boom, but it is surely part of the bust.

It's a county that stands out by several measures. With fewer than 6,800 people Menifee is sparsely populated and rural, sometimes even remote, heavily white — and full of Obama voters waiting for their world to change after the new president is inaugurated on Tuesday.

Menifee's Obama vote sets it apart in Kentucky, which was a McCain stronghold in the 2008 presidential election.

The naive high school girl will find out that big cities filled with blacks will benefit before a rural Kentucky county that is nearly 100% white.

Oh you mean Obama isn’t going to find her a job, pay her gas and apartment bill? Isn’t she in for a surprise indeed.

It’s enough to make you puke. “We want the best, it’s our turn”. I wonder why her mama has a different last name? That would probably be a good place to start.

There's white areas which have been collecting handouts for four and five generations. Handouts aren't just given by skin color. Elliot County right near there is usually 70% democrat, and white. "Mr. Roosevelt is gonna save us all...."

The largest employer in Menifee is the school district. Those are lib just about anywhere you go.

When I watch The American Form of Government and listen to the reasons why the Founding Fathers did not want to create a Democracy, I am overwhelmed with a sense of grief that our school children do not even have half of the education that our Founding Fathers had. Who's reading the Classical Greek and Roman literature in school today? We've dumbed down so far that we are sheeple ready to follow the first man with a flute . . . right over the cliff into whatever brand of politics he's playing.

Not just you and me, but our children and grandchildren know less about Governments and why the Founding Fathers gave us a Republic and not a Democracy or and Oligarchy than they do about the latest iPod craze or computer game or Wii.

We have failed ourselves and our children by not staying on top of what was happening in our schools and not emphasizing Classical Literature at home if the schools refused to teach it.

Pogo is right: We have met the enemy and he is us.

So did San Diego County, Riverside County, and San Bernadinos County in California, so hopefully certain folks who live there will keep their mouths shut from now on about how “conservative” their areas are. I also hope that certain fools who blame South Florida for all the political problems in Florida take note of the fact that Orange County voted for Obama by a a margin of 10%, while neighboring Osceola County wasn’t much better. Lake and Seminole Counties will not be too far behind. Well, what do you expect from an area of the state where the largest employee is a six foot tall rodent, and where said employer tends to attracts left-side-of-the-bell-curve types, many of whom are fleeing problems elsewhere...

One of my son’s classes this semester is Gentlemen and Political Life. They will be reading Xenophon and George Washington, among others.

There is a very large influx of non-Cuban Hispanic types in that part of Florida.

I know. It started when Disney recruited workers from Puerto Rico in large numbers in the 80s, and snowballed from there.
