What is going to happen to this wonderful thread after January 20-2009? I want to thank you and everyone who has contributed. I have enjoyed daily thread, including my toaster years back, when I had time early in the day to view.

snugs: Thank you for posting tonight’s DOSE! The photos of the President and Condi are particularly touching — they’ve literally been through ‘war’ together for eight awe-inspiring years!

TONIGHT’S FAREWELL ADDRESS HAD ME IN TEARS FROM THE OPENING LINE . . . EIGHT YEARS — WHERE DID THE TIME GO?! IT SEEMS LIKE ONLY YESTERDAY THAT WE WERE LISTENING TO THE PRESIDENT’S FIRST INAUGURAL ADDRESS! [Thank goodness I can look forward to the Welcome Home Party in Midland or I’d be beyond depressed at this moment!]

Thanks. That speech was pretty "Reaganesque". He has the same rosy view of America as a "shining city on the hill", but he hasn't always been able to articulate that view.
That's one of the reasons that I'm GOP. I prefer to see us as optimistic and with an unlimited future, rather than as people who need to "sacrifice" for some glum view of the planet.
I'm going to miss that man.
To: DrDeb
It was a short speech, wasn’t it. Short and beautiful.
*sniff*
I hope it’s not cold next week, or I’ll have icicles on my nose from crying when I see him.

Thank you for the ping, Snugs. How is your father? Better, I hope.
Totally off subject, but I was wondering today: Where is Lady Laura's mother? Was she with them at Christmas? Will she be at Camp David this week-end. The last I heard, she was in a nursing home.

Condoleezza Rice is such a lovely, talented lady. Besides resting, has anyone heard what she plans to do after next week? Will she help the new SoS with the transition or go home (wherever that is)?

I don’t plan on having the TV on that day either (maybe “Animal Planet”). Think it will take 4 days to clear the air on the stations?

I have had an American flag on the antenna of my old car for years--when it wears out, I put on another. At noon (Eastern)on the 20th, I'm going to take it down and tape on a little yellow flag that is ready to fly.
Love the red tie the President was wearing earlier--I was hoping he would have one on for the farewell speech.

Yeah, I can believe it. This is the same group that griped and whined when only part of “DemocRAT” showed on the screen. President Bush was gentleman enough to have it removed or the ad removed. The libs can dish it out but can't take it.

Thanks for posting that - I came off line after posting to watch the speech which I felt though brief showed the depth and warmth yet strength of the man.
