Obama's AG pick (Holder) charts new counterterrorism course (US court trials for terrorists )

Attorney General-nominee Eric Holder forcefully broke from the Bush administration's counterterrorism policies Thursday, declaring that waterboarding is torture and pledging to prosecute some Guantanamo Bay detainees in U.S. courts.

As a practical matter, Holder said torture does not lead to reliable intelligence. And on principle, he said the United States needs to live up to its own high standards, even in the face of fear and terrorism.

The incoming Obama administration has not indicated what would happen to the detainees who were transferred to the United States. Holder said the administration was considering prosecuting the detainees in civilian courts, military courts or in some new hybrid court.

He also did not have an answer to how the new administration would handle detainees deemed too dangerous to release but who could not be prosecuted without endangering CIA operatives or jeopardizing intelligence methods.

Typical Democrat approach -- rhetoric and planning stupid and dangerous actions, without understanding the full implications of those actions.

What is Holder and Obama going to say WHEN ( NOT "if") we will have an attack on the US that could have been prevented if we interrogated captured terrorists?

“Holder said torture does not lead to reliable intelligence”

And some US court decisions don't lead to reliable verdicts.

That's why we don't want them tried here.

You nailed it they’ll blame the bush admin. for every mistake and problem that happens in the next 4 years. They definitely haven’t ridden that horse into the ground yet.

Undoubtedly the civilian discovery rules will rule out any chance the military will reveal enough of its techniques to enable prosecution. The cases will be dismissed for lack of cooperation by the military. It’s a get-out-of-jail-free card for the detainees and possibly the lottery of punitive damages against the military (taxpayers) for their period of incarceration and mental anguish.

Yeah right, all you need is one Islamic sympathizer on the jury.

Holder appears to be unaware that NO ONE in Congress wants any of these pukes in his or her state or district.

Frankly, I don't want Holder in my state or district either ~ the whole pack of 'em, AlQaida, Democrat party, Obama and his running dog lackeys, Eric Holder, the Hidlabeast ~ they can all take a jump in the sea for all I care about 'em.

Great just what we need. Terrorists in front of the same type of jury pool that set OJ free the first time around.

Future note to the military...there aren’t any survivors to capture.

I could not believe when he said that torture has been shown to be ineffective by the Inquisition! This guy is another punch line.

May we live in interesting times...we do, I just hope that we withstand them.

Damned if they do and damned if they don't, either they take prisoners or get brought up on murder charges.

And any terrorist who does by some quirk of fate get convicted will just be given the FALN treatment (pardoned when it is politically advantageous).
