First responders were clearly regular New York citizens...Not professional first responders.
Good for them!
True.
I was just thinking -- it wasn't like Nagin and N.O. -- they didn't have to wait for FEMA to tell them what to do.

Looks like that big fire boat is on top of one wing which has it heeled over to one side.

You'd think they could put chicken wire or some such, on the front of those engines!!Go here and look at some birdstrike photo's and remember the velocity of these impacts are very high.

Shepard Smith is a moron. Even now he is trying to do math. talking about the plane being moved and how many city blocks equals a plane, something like that, dude is an idiot

Were watching a live feed here in the office. Everybody off the plane now and its being tugged down the Hudson. Those must have been thosy pesky geese that invaded my mothers nursing home on the river.Oh wow... may be the very same geese. Those damn things...
Big signs posted on the perimeter fence around Bradley Airport up here in CT (especially in the empty lots where people watch the planes take off and land): Do NOT feed the birds!
From what I've seen so far: The pilot(s) of this plane, and rescuers (NYPD, FDNY, NY Waterways and Circle Line crews) and other volunteers: ALL HEROES!

Wow. Less than 100 feet deep all over.
They gotta get it out, it would be a true hazard to leave it long.
But with depths like that, they could get it out in a day. Just blow it full of air again.

New York Waterways ferries right there. Their location is directly across from the Intrepid.
Like the luck of those folks in Denver, these folks had God watching over them as well.

amazing what’s on the web.
Looks like (inferring from data) the bird strike occurred on climb out.
03:27PM 40.86 -73.88 194 3200 climbing New York Center
03:28PM 40.88 -73.90 202 2000 descending New York TRACON
194 = KIAS
3200 = altitude AGL
In one minute they lost 1200 feet, which is not terribly alarming, but ‘interesting’. Definitely not part of a normal departure route.
