It went down right near the Intrepid? Wow! Pilot did a good job of ditching it into the river instead of the populated areas. Hope everyone’s OK.

“How cold is that water?!”

According to the nearest buoy recording this type of data 43 degrees.

Wow! They got a barge towing it now!

Give them machinists about ten days with it, and it’ll be back in the air!

I’m sure they will when a vessel that’s equipped with them arrives, but very few boats carry them. It just happened, too.

If it’s near the USS Intrepid, from LaGuardia, it had to fly over or around Manhattan.

If that thing got 300 feet in the air and lost both engines, then put it down in the Hudson and nobody’s died? You can put that one in the dictionary under “miracle.” There have been VERY few successful ditchings of commercial jet aircraft over the past fifty years, and I don’t think there’s ever been one where everybody got out alive.

Reporting the pilot/co-pilot had time to say over the intercom, “Brace for impact”.

Looks like that large boat is attached to it now somehow, holding it up. Big cable around it.

So they got them all out already? I hope so. Fox made it sound like they had not done so.

Salt water needs to get much lower than 32 degrees for a long period of time to freeze. Water at the surface is probably mid to high 20 degrees F.

Agreed.

But ...

Calm surface. Skilled pilot. Homeland Security processes worked.

Luck is when preparation meets opportunity. NYC was prepared.
