Spurned Again (or how Obama is dumping on his moonbat supporters)
FrontPageMagazine.com ^ | Tuesday, January 13, 2009 | Jacob Laksin

Stumping for the presidency, Barack Obama relentlessly assailed what he called the Bush administration’s “dangerous and failed foreign policy.” But with the prospect of taking power just weeks away, imitation is proving to be the sincerest form of censure. Just one month after Obama picked a hawkish national security cabinet, retaining some Bush administration personnel in the process, the president-elect has once again signaled that he intends to follow the outgoing administration’s course in the war on terror.

In a Sunday interview with ABC News, Obama revealed that he was unlikely to close the Guantanamo Bay detention center in the first 100 days of his presidency. That is a stark climb-down from promises Obama made as recently as November, when he indicated that shutting down Guantanamo would be a top priority.

Proximity to power seems to have had a sobering effect on Obama. “It is more difficult than I think a lot of people realize” to close Guantanamo, he explained on Sunday, pointing out, correctly, that its resident detainees are actually “very dangerous.” Obama did not miss the import of that admission, specifically that any closure of the facility would have to be so designed that it “doesn’t result in releasing people who are intent on blowing us up.” Until such a plan exists, Guantanamo will stay open.

I’m getting the ‘hey...thats not what I voted for’ commentary from people that voted for ‘change’ but couldn’t tell me ‘what kind of change’.

Its pretty amusing...til you realize we have to deal with this for the next four years.

Then you get really....contemplative.

It’s all about power to them - power to enact “vengence” on those that dare disagree.

And yes, they DO care that this vengence isn’t going to be implemented ASAP.

But, as Rush says, it’s not about what he says, it’s about how he says it. So, they aren’t going to be mad at Zero, they’ll be mad at reality, which is inherently conservative in nature.

Call it thoughtful if that helps....(chuckle)

Bottom line is I’m worried about the future with ‘dis guy’ Obama.

I don’t think that he has dumped them. He han’t even assumed power yet.

I may be wrong but I believe that for the most part his first fours wil be mostly be spent setting the stage for his next four years.By that I mean he will be working behind the scene getting his ducks in order, i.e. laws passed to ensure either his re-election or the election of the choice of thos who are now pulling his strings, getting the assets that they will need when they begin to move in place.

I look for it to be a series of duck bites initially, not one fell swoop. The end result will be the same.

I have long suspected that there is some Terrible Knowledge that is revealed to the president-elect just before he assumes the office.

I've thought that too - they all seem to sober up and move away from the campaign rhetoric once they get in office.

You might be correct. We’ll see as it plays out.

That's a pretty dumb attitude. I hope you aren't serious?

I am serious. It's generally considered a form of spamming at best, trolling at worst. Better to simply provide a link with a teaser line or two for those who are interested in learning more.

Oh, . . jeez, I screwed up and read the whole thing.

You're to be commended for bravely wading through it all. :)

Usually I do post brief excepts (teasers) with the links. But in this case we were dealing with some really serious sh*t (Eric Holder for U.S. Attorney General), and I wanted everyone to know who this SOB is. In any event, if scrolling doesn't work, try the down arrow.
