Comedy Dilemma: Obama's Flaws 'Not so Obvious'
Patriot Room ^ | 1-13-09 | Clyde Middleton

There was a time when it was considered poor taste for comedians to attack a current President of the United States, but that day ended with SNL and Richard Nixon. The world has since flipped, and now people worry when the comedians are not ripping the President. Thus far, most comedians are having difficulty targeting President-Elect Obama.

The reason is simple; most comedians are liberals. They just don't see anything worthy of mockery in him. Case in point, this loon, who actually gets paid to "direct talent" for Comedy Central.

Comedy Central Director of Talent JoAnn Grigioni says she sympathizes with comics who haven't yet found Obama's soft spots...

''I think people who may be having a hard time skewering Obama are experiencing that because right now his flaws, those that would be comedy fodder, are not so obvious,'' Grigioni said.

This is ridiculous at face value. People whose business is to know who and what is funny are able to see the humor in anything. The only time they are unable to do so is when what might be funny to a lot of people is actually deeply offensive to themselves.

Why don't we help Grigioni and her comics out? Here are just a few of Obama's rather obvious flaws and/or things that would be good fodder for comedians to mock him:

Jon Lovtiz should do guest spots on SNL as Leon Panetta (with his lying schtick):

"My position on waterboarding, er... why I'm FOR it..."

A little river boat gambling is as near as I’ve been to a cruise lately.

You're not counting Vaughn Meader & his comedy album of President Kennedy & family? Or Will Rogers? Neither was considered in poor taste, IIRC.

But I agree with you that Obama is funny. Comedians are simply afraid to cross him or his gangs.

You're thinking of Vaughn Meader, "He's screwed!" to paraphrase Lenny Bruce in the aftermath of the Kennedy assassination.

His comedic claim to fame was "The First Family album" and after the assassination there would be NO market demand for his talents.

The parody was fairly good-natured. Kennedy himself was said to have given copies of the albums as Christmas gifts, and once greeted a Democratic National Committee group by saying, "Vaughn Meader was busy tonight, so I came myself."[1] At one press conference, Kennedy was asked if the album had produced "annoyment [sic] or enjoyment." He jokingly responded, "I listened to Mr. Meader's record and, frankly, I thought it sounded more like Teddy than it did me. So, now he's annoyed."

...After John F. Kennedy was killed in Dallas, Texas, in November, 1963, sales of The First Family albums plummeted, and stores removed the records from their shelves as the nation went into mourning.

Satirists are afraid of mocking Islamic terrorists as well.

Seems there would be a bit of comedy in having half-siblings spread across the globe like wildflowers.

I've Got It! A New Fresh Prince. Only this time, he in the Whi'house. And he uncle the Prexidents.

I can just see Dana Carvey doing his Church Lady skits...

Continuing the monologue...Maybe its because he is Bastard Hmmmm
Maybe his slut whore momma didn't have time to fill out the paper, because she was to sore from doing the devil dance with every black man in Africa? Maybe the half-breed bastard doesn't know which of the 57 states he was born in or maybe because of his his Muslim religion he can't say! We know why! It is because he wasn't born but hatched from an egg - a spawn of a demon! This devil is all about hope - hope you won't find out that he is really the anti-Christ sent by Satan! We know who your daddy really is - you son of Beelzebub! His ears are really just camouflage for his horns!

Do the Church lady dance!

Here’s a helping hand to Letterman:

Q: What do Obama and Osama have in common?

A: Friends that bombed the Pentagon.

The only time they are unable to do so is when what might be funny to a lot of people is actually deeply offensive to themselves.

I don't think that's entirely true. It's not possible to make fun of that which their audience will find offensive. See Michael Richards, or 9/11 jokes for example.

Either way, Obama's flaws will become apparent after he takes office and people find out he's not doing a damn thing different than McCain would have done, and their lives aren't improving one bit. As soon as enough of the people (the audience) turns on him, it'll be easy.

I urge everyone I know to not watch Letterman. He’s an arrogant snob who hates conservatives and uses his show to broadcast his politics. Obviously, it’s not entertainment so why bother watching.

They will just shrug their shoulders like they did when our nation's first black president, Clintigula, reigned.

"They all do it."

Liberals are children trapped in adult bodies who entertain themselves by calling other people names. When on the receiving end, however, they immediately throw themselves on the ground in a fit of uncontrolled anger and rage, stunned that anyone could possibly think such things of them.
