Supercar to use wind power to reach amazing speeds A revolutionary new supercar will be able to hit a top speed of 155mph - using wind power. By Daily Telegraph Reporter 11 Jan 2009 The new environmentally-friendly high performance car was designed in California The Formula AE car will use a solar-powered battery to get it moving but will then use the airflow passing over the vehicle to power a turbine. It will be able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than four seconds and is expected to cost around £100,000 when it hits the market.

I'm calling 99.99% hoax probability...
“First, we drink a whole lot of beer...”

Count me in!
The turbines (4 of them) charge a supercapacitor for "immediately available" energy.
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.
The thermodynamics I learned at engineering school says don't bet on it. Perpetual motion is still not patenable.
patentable - didn’t spell check.
Works great... until the 165 MPH windstorm dies down. Or you get blown into a tree.
Something odd here, but I'm not quite getting it yet...
Exactly.
Here is a car which is beautiful to my eye, and with proven technology. The Fisker Karma, a luxury alternative to the Chevrolet Volt.
I hope this new American auto company is successful.
It will have a plug-in electric capability, together with a 260hp turbocharged gas engine for hybrid operation.
Estimated sales price in a recent magazine article was $88,000. The same article said it was being assembled partyly in Europe, however the Corporate HQ is in Orange County, California.
Initial production is to be 15,000 units per year.
The guy behind the company is Henrik Fisker, who has designed some nice cars, for BMW, Aston Martin, etc.

Many will observe that $88,000 is not your common man’s vehicle. And I will reply that Toyota has over one million hybrids on the road, from the Prius up to high cost Lexus models.
IOW new technology gets road tested and becomes acceptable when it attracts well off users.
I am sure Mr. Fisker has a lower cost vehicle on his drawing board.
The founder’s personal motto is “Imagination is more important than knowledge”, Einstein would be rolling over in his grave if he knew how his quote was being used and abused.
I remember trying to get a job with Fisker a couple years ago, never got anywhere. It’s OK, I’m more than satisfied with my current employer.
Yea. Saw that. Thought the same thing.
Our energy problems are solved, Heil 0baaama!
When you are blissfully ignorant, it doesn’t matter as nothing can interrupt your bliss.
These idiots. You don’t need no stinkin turbine. The best way to run a car is to first get it moving with an electric motor. Then, shut the motor off. The car moving through the air has a low pressure region behind it. As the air from the rear rushes in to fill the low pressure region, it hits the back of the car and pushes it forward. The car is slowed by having the wheels turn an alternator that recharges the battery to get it moving the next time. The only energy input is the very first time you run the car. That’s how mine works. When you get rid of it, you can sell the extra energy in the batteries and get your initial energy investment back.
Supercar... Supercar...
With beauty and grace,
as swift as can be,
watch it flying through the air.
It travels in space,
or under the sea,
and it can journey anywhere.
Supercar... Supercar...
It travels on land,
or roams the skies,
through a heavens stormy rage,
It’s Mercury-manned,
and everyone cries,
“it’s the marvel of the age!”
Supercar... Supercar... Supercar!
The last idea of this sort that I came across was that a car should have a generator affixed to it’s rear axle; then when the wheels spun they would generate electricity that could be used to power the engine, which in turn would power the generator, which in return would power the engine ... and round and round we go! It was BRILLIANT!
feet up!
“And the fuel is?”
Say, is that a pair of bare feet I see under that car?
Sheesh, talk about overkill!
“use the airflow passing over the vehicle to power a turbine”
Here is a designer that never drove in California traffic. You go nowhere fast.
