Here is a car which is beautiful to my eye, and with proven technology. The Fisker Karma, a luxury alternative to the Chevrolet Volt.

I hope this new American auto company is successful.

It will have a plug-in electric capability, together with a 260hp turbocharged gas engine for hybrid operation.

Estimated sales price in a recent magazine article was $88,000. The same article said it was being assembled partyly in Europe, however the Corporate HQ is in Orange County, California.

Initial production is to be 15,000 units per year.

The guy behind the company is Henrik Fisker, who has designed some nice cars, for BMW, Aston Martin, etc.

Many will observe that $88,000 is not your common man’s vehicle. And I will reply that Toyota has over one million hybrids on the road, from the Prius up to high cost Lexus models.

IOW new technology gets road tested and becomes acceptable when it attracts well off users.

I am sure Mr. Fisker has a lower cost vehicle on his drawing board.

I remember trying to get a job with Fisker a couple years ago, never got anywhere. It’s OK, I’m more than satisfied with my current employer.
