Ping me when you get it started!

I will add my soup recipes, made with the Harmony House dehydrated veggies, which are a real life saver for us. We are snowed in, and can’t get to the market, but we always have these wonderful dehydrated veggies on hand, and can have nourishing tasty soup in minutes “stove-top”!

Or, even better! Started in the morning in the crock-pot, and great for dinner, with some home-baked bread!

It is so easy to make your own flavored white sauce, which is all the “Cream of Whatever” you buy from Campbells’s, actually is, with lots of weird chemicals added!

it will make you mad when you realize how you have been taken by them!

This makes 6 cups of substitute for canned, creamed soup. 1 and 1/2 cups = 1 small can of soup.

3/4 cup butter, margarine, or cooking oil
3/4 cup flour
6 cups milk

Chicken or Beef flavoring:

2 Tablespoons Bouillon granules
or
6 Bouillon cubes
or
1/4 cup Broth powder

Use a big glass measuring cup and the microwave if you do not like stirring over the stove to prevent scorching. Melt the butter or margarine, add the flour and broth flavoring, then microwave it for about 90 seconds, or until the mixture is bubbly.

Then add 2 cups of the milk and microwave for 2 minutes.

Add 2 more cups of milk, and microwave for 2 more minutes.

Ditto, until there are 6 cups of milk in the bowl. Microwave and stir in two minute intervals until it is thick. A 6 cup batch will take about 15 minutes.

And, you can add any finely minced veggies you desire, like onions, mushrooms, broccoli, celery, etc.

You can also add shredded cheddar, swiss, pecorino romano, parmesan, etc.. Just stir these until melted. You can make your own broccoli cheese soup this way!

Enjoy freedom from can openers! Teach the kids that great food doesn’t have to come from cans!

love to all you budding cooks out there! And use the whole batch to make your soups or casseroles, then freeze them in the amount you need for a meal. Some of us need only one serving, and some of us are feeding a crowd!

You’re most welcome, TE.

Hey! You and I patronize the same law firm! “Smith & Wesson: Partners at Peace.”

What a fun thread this is. A gathering of good hearts and minds solving the world’s ills over a cuppa homemade soup and a handful of recipes, a little politcs here and there, some talk of the weather, a smattering of economics, and a shot of .357 Magnumb’ems from an L-Frame. Gotta love you that Free Republic. ;)

All this began with gay soup? Who could have known? LOL

Thanks. : )

I’ve used flavored white sauces a lot through the years. I started grabbing a can of cream soup for convenience, but some things are more important than convenience. Besides, homemade does taste better!

Love the title. I’ll use it if you don’t mind (although I’m sure I’ll hear from some wet blanket about it)

I couldn't see that coming could I?

My s-i-l got stopped for speeding (after a long day at the amusement park- she just wanted to get home)

It was evening. The trooper pulls her over and takes her paperwork and asks if she knew why he stopped her. She said yes and told him. The next thing was if she had anything to say for herself, and she said no, she was wrong and knew it.

She was floored when he told her that she was the FIRST person all day that he had stopped who didn’t yell and swear at him. She was more floored when he warned her to be careful and let her go with that.

Now, she’s as liberal as they come, but the last thing she would ever do is yell at someone in a position of authority like that, especially in front of her kids.

Myself, I couldn’t see taking the risk of talking back to someone who can legally make your life hell.

I just made a Campbell’s purchase the other day. My family has used the brand for over fifty years that I am aware of. My grandmother gave my brother and I Campbell’s Chicken Noodle soup as very young kids. I still like it today.

Oh well...

Same here. When I finally take myself to bed with a cold or the flu, more often than not, I grab the "old school" Campbell's Chicken Noodle soup (versus the newer, hearty kinds)

Double oh, well...

Thanks. That's a big error on AFA’s part. I'll be sure to notify them. Put “Pee” in Campbell's Soup. LOL

What? You don't think that gays didn't eat Campbell's soup before?

No doubt many of them did, yes.

They can't read a morally neutral ad and be persuaded to buy it.

They can, of course, but it's easier to persuade them if they feel like the advertiser is speaking directly to them. Obviously many gays will buy their soup if the ad is "morally neutral," but more will likely do so if it is specifically designed to appeal to them, just as more BET watchers are more likely to buy a product if it features people like them (black). And Campbell's isn't the only soup manufacturer.

Advertising is all about the numbers. It seems silly to me to get upset about how Campbell's markets their soup in gay publications. As I said, when they run a Superbowl ad like that, get back to me.

heard the same thing off a few people now.

sad as I think they should be talking about this and bringing to the attention of those who may not know what the agenda is about and how they are perverting schools, kids etc.

It is a conservative view and therefore Rush and Hannity I feel should be talking about it
