My eighty-nine year old father practice law for over 50 years. He was top in his class and clerked for the federal court. When the Gore case went to the SCOTUS he wrote the chapter, paragraph etc that the court would be decide the case on a piece of paper. He also wrote the vote tally and which justices would vote which way.....He gave the paper to a young judge in town and told him to open it when the decision was published........He was 100% correct.

He thinks any one who thinks that the SCOTUS is going to ignore or dismiss this case is delusional......He is much more qualified to judge the case then you are.

I would highly value hearing your father's prediction for what the court will do. Even if only conjecture, his experience and maturity should make them words worth having.

Time is getting late and we're down to the wire here if they're going to do anything other than dismiss and ignore this and all related cases.....

Perhaps you can ask your dad why all the challenges have been sent to conference and then disposed of.

Are they defective? I mean as how they were written or presented?

Is this a procedural process where the cases that will move forward are simply going through the normal process?

Is there issues with the clerks as Donofrio alleged?

Does your father believe the justices will act on the law or will they instead act because of the social ramifications?

It is hard to find info among the flame wars. I would be interested if your dad could say why he was so certain this would see the light of day. Frankly I am not so certain they will act on the law. It is a powder keg just waiting to go off.

According to comments on a number of earlier threads, it only takes 4 votes in conference to put it on the court’s schedule. So they don’t need Stevens at this stage.

And if they DO vote to move forward, then it will be simply impossible for the news media to ignore it.

But I’m not sure why they would wait until now to take action.
