I like Pat Buchanan. I do. He's wise, funny and charming. But every once in a while . . .
Like tonight. If Buchanan wants to criticize Israel's conduct of the current war, and its treatment of the Palestinians, so be it. But in doing so, is it really necessary to employ terms associated with the Nazis? Appearing on "1600 Pennsylvania Avenue," Buchanan accused Israel of carrying out a "blitzkrieg" against Gaza and turning it into a "concentration camp."

Uh.... "an individual of great courage...Hitlers success was not based on his extraordinary gifts alone..."
Sorry, but "gifted & courageous" don't spring to mind when Hitler is mentioned. But I will give him "dark & mysterious"...
“Why does a persons critical position regarding Israel automatically make them anti-semitic?”
It doesn’t....unless they are always ‘critical’ in every situation. Unfortunately, Buchanan always seems to come down on what-ever side is against the jews. It is probably deep seated and an ‘inherited’ mindset, that for some reason, unconsciously, he doesn’t dare upset.
LOL. That’s too dumb to warrant a response.
Pat is like a crazy old uncle—a Jew hating crazy old uncle.
I wish he would shut up—I can’t stand the sound of his whiny nasal voice.
He has a history of pro-Nazi, anti Semitic remarks.
No surprise here.
“Pat is like a crazy old unclea Jew hating crazy old uncle.”
yes. And after having had many conversations with SSPX’ers, I often wonder if he leans that way, because he sounds an awful lot like those folks. Especially when it comes to the Jooos.
I hereby volunteer to spit in Pat’s face. I used to like the guy. Not anymore.

Pat, sit down and color.
Billy Graham is feeble and 90 yr. old, and never was very astute about politics, but that was hardly his specialty. Age-related mental deterioration is probably a factor in the case of Pat Robinson also. Most people are well past their peak by 60, and outright dementia is very common in those over 80.
To be very frank, Pat Buchannan is an anti-semetic and a racist. I have at least one of his books and there are some exellent points made in what he writes. Sometimes. At other times he comes across like the jerk he is.
Pat, if Israel really worked that way, they’d own most of what we call the Arab world, and the last Palestinian would have gone up the smokestack a long time ago.
Could that be because a "blitzkrieg" response is a completely appropriate response to years of Hamas' and Hezbollah's "V-1 and V-2 Nazi terror rocket-type" attacks on Israeli cities and citizens. Perhaps Buchanan should talk with the surviving WW II-era Brits about the proper response to terror-rocket barrages...
I think you have it backwards regarding Buchanan...
It should be "Why does a persons anti-semitism cause them to take critical position regarding Israel?
There, now do you understand?
Buchanan has always been pro-Arab.
Why do you think the idiots down in S.Florida blamed him when saying their votes were recorded incorrectly for Buchanan and not Gore in 2000?
Because they knew noone would believe a bunch of transplanted NY Jews would vote for Buchanan (but they still couldn’t explain their stupidity for not understanding the butterfly ballot)
For antisemites such as Pat, the answer is - yes!
Buchanan’s continued hyperbolic rhetoric strongly implies he is an antizionist. He intentionally uses Holocaust and WW2 references to make the not-so-subtle point that he doesn’t particularly care for Jews either. He doesn’t care about their feelings when he uses such rhetoric, nor does he seem to care to distinguish between Jews and Israelis.
To the extent that Gaza is any sort of camp, it was not created by Israel. The UN made much of Gaza a refugee camp. The UN and the rest of the world perpetuates conflict by not in any meaningful way attempting to improve the refugee camps, resettle permanently the refugees, or otherwise help the Palestinians learn how to be productive world citizens. They make almost nothing and contribute almost nothing to worldwide productivity.
Gaza was not created by Israel it was captured by Israel. Egypt doesn’t want it. Israel doesn’t want it. Maybe nobody wants it, except maybe the Palestinians, but they don’t want it enough to care for it, keep it clean, keep it safe, keep it out of harms way.
This problem will only be solved when the western world grows a pair of testicals and says to the Palestinians “get your sh*t together, stop fighting, and build a state for your people”. Bill Clinton was going to give them $30 billion — and they could have raised a lot more on top of that — if they made peace with Israel from Oslo. They chose intifada instead. And they chose it because they get billions anyway, and so why make peace when there is a chance (however remote) that someday they might win their war?
When it comes to evaluating Israel and the Paleo-Nazis, these words fit Pat Buchanan perfectly as an observation about HIS mushiness, character flaws, etc. If he cannot see that Israelis are overwhelmingly the "good guys" in this scenario then he is depraved.
Every time I try to believe the people who say that Pat Buchanan is not anti-semitic I am brought up short by some of his vicious statements against Israel.
ditto Laura Ingraham. Buchanan seems to be a regular on her show lately. I immediately switch the dial when she announces him. I question her judgment, but then she has Mark Steyn on.
