Freepers today is the big day. I'm assuming it's going to be on C-SPAN. I did not find a discussion thread so I'm starting one for us.
Notice how in the Lightfoot v Bowen (Dr Orly) case, Application (08XXXX) referred to the Court is the LAST Order in that case, unlike other SCOTUS cases challenging Obama. Donofrios & Wrotnowskis cases are slightly similar as well, with denied writ applications but pending cases. A clerical mess-up or something else?
Docket info is below, and snipped for brevity. For the full timeline, just copy and paste the docket number here for each case for more details: http://www.supremecourtus.gov/docket/docket.html
One possible reason would be based upon the theory that the SCOTUS is awaiting a true Constitutional Cause of Action. This may be either the Jan. 8 counting of the Electoral College votes or Inauguration Day. Incidentally, the Inauguration Day on Jan. 20 is the only Constitutional-mandated date associated with the President (except Election Day); all other dates fall under USC Title 3.

C-Span 1 Coverage beginning now...

When might we see a challenge?
On January 8, 2009, both the U.S. Senate and House shall meet for the purpose of counting and certifying the electoral votes. After the vote has been counted, the President of the Senate shall call for objections. It is at this time that federal officials in both the House and Senate may object to the certification of President-elect Obama by alleging that he fails to meet the constitutional requirements to serve as President of the United States.”
OK...GIve it to us again in layman terms.
So Georgia tanked it.
My personal pos’s - isakson and Chamblis
I wish those in the chamber NO SLEEP for the rest of time.
(barring of course some surprise)
Hell - I’ve got to find an island to move to.
Opps - I already live on one.
Maybe georgia will miss me in the census count.
Thank you so much, nominal.
There is still time for one brave soul to object, and I pray he/she will do so.
That’s the only thing I’m hoping for. At least ONE person with enough guts to at least broach the subject. I’m not under any misconception of hope that it will change today’s outcome in certifying the vote, but if at least ONE Representative, or Senator brings it up at least it’ll be in the record.
I’m not sure of the order of things. Right now we are in the state by state call out of electoral votes. When this is over might be the time that someone could object. I’m not sure that it would take place “by the state”.
Ha ha, big joke about Ohio being “regular in form and authentic” (because Bush didn’t steal it this time doncha know).
I have to get the sound off to do some other stuff. If others are watching I’d love some minute-by-minute updates on this thread if you can be bothered.
RIGHT NOW WE ARE AT OREGON !!
Is it just me or does Chuck Schumer
cause others to spontaneously
dry heave?
I think the laughter was more about the fact that Ohio's certificate was in a big honkin' folder that hardly fit on the podium while the others seem to have been regular 8 1/2 by 11 pieces of paper.
I’ll be listening, and I will definitely post if there is an objection, or anything out of the ordinary.
All certificates have been read.
Tellers report to the President of the Senate:
The whole number of electors is 538 of which a majority is 270.
Barack Obama has received 365 votes.
(Clapping whooping and hollering in the chambers)
I picked an awful day to quite drinking.
John McCain received 173 votes
The state of the vote for Vice-President as delivered to the President of the Senate:
Joseph Biden has received 365 votes
Sarah Palin of the state of Alaska has received 173 votes.
Stating that this announcement confirms the election of Barack Obama for the term beginning on January 20, 2009.
Joint Session Dissolved...
No opportunity for objection offered...
Not one single comment about ineligibility issues.
