ANN COULTER: THIS IS THE DOWNER WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR! (It's The Media, Stupid!)

THIS IS THE DOWNER WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR!
January 7, 2009

After NBC canceled me "for life" on Monday -- until seven or eight hours later when the ban was splashed across the top of The Drudge Report, forcing a red-faced NBC to withdraw the ban -- an NBC insider told The Drudge Report: "We are just not interested in anyone so highly critical of President-elect Obama, right now," explaining that "it's such a downer. It's just not the time, and it's not what our audience wants, either."

In point of fact, I'm not particularly critical of Obama in my new book. I'm critical of the media for behaving like a protection racket for Obama rather than the constitutionally protected guardians of our liberty that they claim to be. So I think what the NBC insider meant to say is that NBC is not interested in anyone so highly critical of NBC right now. It's such a downer, it's just not the time, and it's not what their audience wants right now, either.

In fact, I think my book is the downer America has been waiting for! So herewith, I present an excerpt from the smash new book out this week, "Guilty: Liberal Victims and Their Assault on America":

When the Obama family materialized, the media was seized by a mass psychosis that hadn't been witnessed since Beatlemania. OK! magazine raved that the Obamas "are such an all-American family that they almost make the Brady Bunch look dysfunctional." Yes, who can forget the madcap episode when the Bradys' wacky preacher tells them the government created AIDS to kill blacks!

Still gushing, OK! magazine's crack journalists reported: "Mom goes to bake sales, dad balances the checkbook, and the girls love Harry Potter" -- and then the whole family goes to a racist huckster who shouts, "God damn America!"

Months before network anchors were interrogating vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin on the intricacies of foreign policy, here is how NBC's Brian Williams mercilessly grilled presidential candidate Barack Obama: "What was it like for you last night, the part we couldn't see, the flight to St. Paul with your wife, knowing what was awaiting?"

Let's just say that Ann is my favorite public figure in the world and I was not at all disappointed by the book. I already am reading it for the second time. Happy reading!

As for the column, every time I go to her site, it's still the same column from last week. And I just clicked on the main post on top.

Someone should distribute “Obama Kneepads” to every MSM outlet.

It’s all they’re good for......

Maybe a Photoshopped image of leading media types kneeling before Obamamessiah would suffice.

I loved her response to him criticizing him for using the phrase B. Hussein Obama. She said something about if Dewey’s middle name had been Hitler, it would have mattered. Nobody in his right mind would have questioned why someone was bringing up his middle name.

I like Ann Coulter’s work and clearly so does a significant number of the reading public. But I don't like her interviews or how easily she is tipped into what some would call a more shrill tone while being knocked off message. Matt Lauer made it look easy. I like her combative spirit, but on television, she has become more personality than substance. She is her own stereotype, the shrill conservative, angry Ann Coulter and her message is lost on all but her fans.

They’ll notice when they stop receiving their taxpayer funded government “freebie” check.

Her column stays up for a week, and then she posts a new one every Wednesday.

Perhaps your cache brings up a saved page for her site.

I took it off of her website between 3 and 3 thirty

Try it again

Says the moderate as Ann laughs her way to the bank.

If I did not know better I would think that NBC is trying to help sell her book.

Are they completely unaware of the irony here?

As FReeper az.b1bbomberfxr posted on the MONSTER thread based on Drudge's original headline:
NBC BANS COULTER FOR LIFE;
CUT FROM 'TODAY' SHOW OVER BOOK'S CLAIMS, NO MORE CABLE

I’ll just say this. When this economy is finally accepted as being a full-fledged depression/abyss, then I’ll probably have to forgo the Charmin and start buying MSM newspapers to wipe my ass with.

No moderates here. I want effective and while she does well in book sales for all the right reasons, conservatives have lost the White House, the Senate, the House and are nothing more than caricatures on shows like Lauer's.

I've learned that arguing with people who are completely emotionally invested in something or someone is an utter waste of time. So, you just go on deluding yourself with your pictures of Ann and your fan worship and ignore reality and what I wrote. She is a far better writer than she is a personality.

That will be the last thing to go. The Government will do anything to keep the checks going and to keep government employees going. At the total demise of the private sector. I think the canary in the coalmine will be talk radio and the 2nd amendment.

I'd totally disagree. Matt Lauer would say something stupid, Ann would verbally pop him in the head, and return to wherever she wanted to be. You can't blame her for toying with a mouse a bit.

She is her own stereotype, the shrill conservative, angry Ann Coulter and her message is lost on all but her fans.

I think that you underestimate the intelligence of Ann's "future" fans.
Perhaps they are even as wise and discerning as YOU are. :o)

From a previous Ann Coulter thread:

...Let me tell you a story.

I am a German living in Berlin, and I don't remember how I discovered Ann Coulter, but I remember that the first book of hers I bought was Slander (imported from Amazon USA).

When I got it, I couldn't put it down and took it everywhere I went. So, one day I felt like having a big cheeseburger and went to the Hardrock Café (There's not much of a choice over here, short of McDonalds and Burger King).

So, I sat there alone, eating my cheeseburger, drinking Kilkenny, and Ann's Slander was lying on the table. The waitress was a young American girl, and she immediately recognized Ann's face on the cover!

At first, I thought I had made a mistake and that she was going to scold and deride me for reading such evil rightwing propaganda, but far from it:

She curiously picked up the book and asked me what it was about: "Is it about her life? Or what?"
We talked a bit, and she told me that she knew her from TV.

It was quite apparent that she didn't even know what a liberal or a conservative is, but somehow, she admired Ann anyway:
That cool woman, so pretty, so smart, making such a ruckus on TV, kicking everybody's ass!

Later I lent the book to several English speaking Germans (and one Brit), only one of them being a die-hard conservative (the Brit). Most of them don't know the first thing about American politics, but Ann's style got through to them, anyway: They all loved the book.

Clearly, this woman had something important to say, and they all wanted to learn more about it :-)

So, yes: Her polemic does get through, and she actually doesn't repel every "soccer mom."

ANN COULTER:

THIS IS THE DOWNER WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR!

D'oh!
(I feel like Homer Simpson!)
You posted this thread almost TWO HOURS ago, and I just now realized why this is such a funny title.
It is NOT just a slam at NBC -- for not wanting to book Ann, because she might be a "downer."
It is ALSO a slam at The One!
So, it's a TWO-fer!
From bumodelun.wordpress.com:

"Change will not come
if we wait for some other person
or some other time.

We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.

We are the change
that we seek."

President-Elect Barack Obama

I think that Ann knows how to play the media like a Stradivarius.
And, based on her TRACK RECORD, we ain't seen NOTHING -- yet.

Stand by for the NEXT wave...

Judging from Ann's past performance on Google trends around the time of her PREVIOUS book launches, we have not seen the REAL media storm for THIS book -- yet:

Well, I GREATLY appreciate Ann Coulter, for being, like Drudge, a one-man wrecking crew.

With her comment on the 9/11 widows, she single-handedly destroyed a MSM favorite - troting out a "victim" to push some leftist policy, placing them above debate or criticism. They can't do that as effectively anymore. That's an amazing accomplishment!

She's up against the cream of the crop in terms of the MSM machine, and she always draws blood (proverbially speaking). They have tons of Columbia journalism lap-dogs, er, I mean, graduates, Lexis-Nexis-ing her every blink, and she comes out strong despite that all weighted against her.
