NASA continues to (rather pathetically) "cheerlead" for sunspots. I think any reasonable person will conclude that this is a serious example of "sunspot inflation" compared with the historical record. Remember that Galileo began the measurements with a 1/2" telescope, and any "official" sunspots should be visible with such an instrument.
Below is the current image from the SOHO observatory. Can YOU find the sunspot?

No I can’t. But, I am struck by how much the Sun looks like a massive sugar cookie. I wonder if there’s any philosophical significance to that.

It is obviously an implied sunspot. And it proves man-made global warming. All that CO2 man has poured into the atmosphere has smothered the sun's spots. We're all gonna die.

I saw that this morning on spaceweather.com, and went to SOHO to look at it. It was barely anything at all. Unbelieveable.

Now I’m struck how much an orange looks the back of Charles Barkely’s head. I should start writing this down.

Looking for the sunspot made me realize how dirty my screen is. Every time I thought I found it, it was actually dirt on my screen.

Maybe it’s on the other side and we have to wait till summer

Is this the start of a new meandering minimum?

Yes there is a sunspot and NASA reported it. The sunspot number is what matters and there is a factor for the type of telescope used.
What is the sunspot number?>
