GAZA CITY (CNN) -- The Israeli military stepped up its offensive in Gaza Tuesday, surrounding densely populated Gaza City with its ground forces after at least 50 air strikes pounded the region overnight.

The United Nations said one Israeli air attack struck an elementary school in Gaza City where hundreds of Palestinians had taken shelter, killing three men.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency said Asma Elementary school was clearly marked as a U.N. installation. It said over 400 people had been given shelter at the school when it was hit Monday night.

"Well before the current fighting, UNRWA had given to the Israeli authorities the GPS (global positioning system) co-ordinates of all its installations in Gaza, including Asma Elementary School," the agency said in a news release.

"UNRWA is strongly protesting these killings to the Israeli authorities and is calling for an immediate and impartial investigation," it added.

Other air strikes hit the homes of people linked to Hamas, including the Wadi family in Jabalya, Hamas security sources said. Eight people were killed in that strike. An overnight air strike hit the Jabalya home of Imad Siam, one of the leaders of Hamas' military wing. Another attack hit the home of a Hamas-affiliated family in Gaza City, killing at least three, according to an eyewitnesses.

Israel claimed Tuesday to have killed 130 Hamas fighters since beginning a ground offensive at the weekend.

""Well before the current fighting, UNRWA had given to the Israeli authorities the GPS (global positioning system) co-ordinates of all its installations in Gaza, including Asma Elementary School,""

And the Hamas members don't know this, and use it to their advantage?

The UN doesn't seem too concerned when the Hamas rockets hit Israeli schools. And if the terrorists were firing rocklets from the Gaza City school, too bad. The UN should be whining to the Hamas.

For a moment, I thought the headline was referring to the attacks on the Israeli kindergarten! (I should have known better.)

“is calling for an immediate and impartial investigation”

Immediate and impartial??? With the UN? I don’t think so! Heck, it’ll be something along the lines of “Israel is evil, Hamas are living saints.”

I am so sick of the UN! They clearly have no sense. HAMAS FIRED FIRST!!!!!!! They apparently can’t get those simple 3 words through their heads!

The world is kowtowing to Hamas and all I can say is we, as the US, had better not!

GO ISRAEL!!!!!! FULL SPEED AHEAD!!!!!

“The United Nations said one Israeli air attack struck an elementary school in Gaza City where hundreds of Palestinians had taken shelter, killing three men.”

If only three men were killed, should we believe “hundreds” were in the school?

Likely, only 3 cowardly men with AK-47’s were in the school.

I hope they wrap things up by the 20th though, Baraq has his head in the sand now but will be forced to make a statement then, which is going to p*ss off about 50% of the people no matter what.

Israel is targeting military/terror installations and sometimes there are unfortunate results. It is war.

Hamas targets civilians, homes, and schools. It is terror.

Exactly.

The UN is about as unbiased towards Israel as the KKK is towards blacks and jews.

Keep pounding ‘em, Israel, and ignore these cretins.

There's an understatement. Hamas fired 5,000+ times before Israel finally responded. I think that is about 4,999 times too many (maybe 4,998?), and my biggest complaint with Israel is that they are too slow to do what they are finally doing. As for the UN, I have not been able to identify one thing they do that is better than flushing our tax dollars directly down the toilet.

“Hamas fired 5,000+ times before Israel finally responded.”

Exactly! Hamas has always been the aggressor and Israel is now finally doing what they should have done a long time ago.

...UNRWA had given to the Israeli authorities the GPS (global positioning system) co-ordinates of all its installations in Gaza...

That was mighty kind of them to provide bombing coordinates.

I'm searching for that pic of a UN flag flying over a Hezbollah millitary installation in Lebanon--anyone got it? That would be appropriate to post here.

You mean the UN is protesting the Hamas missile strikes on Israeli kindergartens?

Oh wait ... I guess it only is an outrage if a muslim school is hit.

Where was the UN when Hamas rockets hit a kindergarten in Beersheba last week and another in Ashdod yesterday?

Plans initially were for senior Hamas leaders to hide among children, in hospitals, etc. This was spoiled a bit by the suddenness of the IDF onslaught and surveillance from UAVs.

However, given that this plan was known, the UNRWA GPS coordinates should be used for targeting. There probably are Hamas targets hiding at them.

THEY'RE A BUNCH OF COWARDS!

To start investigating our allies for defending themselves from the hamas rocket bombardment is like investigating an innocent shooting victim, because he might have done something offensive to the criminal while he was lying there getting shot, AND apologizing to the criminal for the inconvenience.

When UNRWA stops hiring Hamas paramilitary and propogandists, and expels armed Hamas paramilitary forces from their property, they will no longer be a legitimate target.
