Barack Obama nominates someone to head the CIA whose major qualification is his inexperience. Even Democrats are dismayed. John Travolta's son, sadly, died. So in its crucial first half-hour this morning, the Early Show naturally devotes almost five minutes to the Travolta story while ignoring the controversy surrounding Leon Panetta's appointment. Far from revealing that even senior Dems like Senators Feinstein and Rockefeller have signalled their displeasure over the naming of Panetta, CBS' Chip Reid painted the pick as a sign of how Obama is briskly taking charge. Here was the sum total of the Early Show's discussion of the matter:
CHIP REID: He may not be Commander-in-Chief just yet. But Mr. Obama is wasting no time, on Monday picking former Clinton White House Chief of Staff Leon Panetta to head the CIA, and retired Admiral Dennis Blair to be director of national intelligence.

Early Show has no time for Panetta pick ping to Today show list.
Obama’s major qualification is his inexperience.
This appointment is a political pay off to Panetta for years of party loyalty.
We have become a nation of “pull”, not of merit. Laws are the few and not for the many. Sound familiar?..................

Your Point?
Its the media. They spent millions and worked overtinme to get Obama elected. You think they are going to do anything to harm that effort now?
This is just another example of the way the mainstream media are playing the Obama symphony. Whenever a serious question arises, they carefully bury it under some meaningless fluff story.
During the presidential campaign, there were very serious concerns about Obama’s own lack of qualifications, his links to such controversial figures as Jeremiah Wright and Tony Rezko, and his ties to the Chicago political machine (which led to his vocal support for the re-election of Governor Rod Blagojevich). But the mainstream media chose instead to carefully explore the “issue” of whether Bristol Palin was Trig Palin’s mother, and the burning question of Sarah’s $150,000 wardrobe.
I guess it could be worse. He could have picked Sandy Berger.
I swear I heard Obama promise change prior to the election.
I’m sure everyone remembers how Harriet Miers was treated for her inexperience.
Don’t hold your breath.
I expect others will bail from the sinking ship.
Cronies are IN!
2009 is the year of the inexperienced:
Barack Obama, Caroline Kennedy, Al Franken, Leon Paneta...
...obviously we were wrong.
Welcome to Clinton III. 66% of Obama’s admin is now retread appointees from Clinton I & II.Don’t ya just love the Hope and Change President? The s**t is really going to hit the fan when we are once again attacked because of NO Intel. Also, is the FBI and CIA going to be able to talk to each other? Where is Jamie Gurlick? It was Jamie Gurlick, under the Clinton administration, that initiated the wall between the agencies.Amen.
Chip Reid. Nuff said.
And remember, these were the people in charge and making the decisions leading up to 9/11. The Bush admin had just barely gotten off the ground thanks to the election mess. Change & hope, or the lack thereof, aren't the half of it.
ANd they just lost Richardson...
Where is Jamie Gurlick?
They were considering Madame Gorelick for Attorney General, but apparently Eric Holder was the better? choice...
Yep, that's the same panetta I knew.
The day will come when richardson thanks his lucky stars that he isn't part of the "crony" administration.
Probably more like the CYA, as in the Clinton’s A’s.
Democrat reporters and networks don’t care about the CIA. God knows what we’re in for with a liberal in charge of the CIA.
