UPDATED - ALERT - Frightening Text Messages Being Forwarded Around NY Jews January 2, 2009 3:00PM EST: [UPDATE BELOW] With the situation in Gaza deteriorating by the day, and anti-semitism rampant around the world, thousands of NY Jews were frightened upon receiving the following text message which has been going around on Friday afternoon:
“A Jewish woman gave a tip to a Muslim taxi driver and out of appreciation he warned her not to go to Manhattan next week Wednesday.”
YWN has reached out to high-ranking members of the NYPD, and have stated that although they received the same text message, “there are no credible threats to be concerned about - and don’t even know where this text message originated from”.
The only message that they do have for the public is the same message that they have been saying since 9/11. That message is “always be aware of your surroundings, be vigilant, and if you see anything suspicious contact the police department immediately to report what you have seen”.
UPDATE 3:50PM EST: YWN has just spoken with NYS Assemblyman Dov Hikind who tells us that he has received various reports regarding this ‘threat’ and has personally contacted the FBI who is currently investigating them.
He thanked YWN for our alert to calm the public, and echoed the call for calm and vigilance at anytime and any location. “If you see something, say something,” Hikind said.
“The FBI and the NYPD take these types of threats very seriously, and investigate them thoroughly to ensure the safety of the public.”

RB, Is this being reported anywhere in the media? Can’t find it anywhere...my son is in NYC and was in Manhattan earlier tonight - in Chelsea area...didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary. Then again he never was the most observant chap :-)
The Daily News had an article today stating that this was a hoax....BUT....
The Synagogues are on alert all over the city and RaceBannon is a very credible poster.
I’m thinking that the authorities don’t want everyone to bail out of the city for fear of a threat and they are down playing it. Certain areas will have a higher security presence. Chelsea, not so much.
I’m always mindful that in terms of the authorities, credible threat means specifics. I think they’ve gotten wind of something but don’t know the how, when and where.

Thanks to 78% of (liberal jews plus 50+% of Catholics) Jews - Hussein was elected. By electing liberal Democrats, we now have a lot of Muslims in America plus millions of illegals.
Enough Muslims so 300 showed up in Fort Lauderdale(!) versus about 50 pro-Israel supporters in a county with quite a few Jews. Incredible.
How 78% of American Jews could vote for Hussein when Muslims in Fort Lauderdale were screaming to send Jews back to the ovens is beyond me and Israelis wanted McCain 3 to 1 is beyond me.
Don’t get me started about 50+% of (my fellow) CINO’s or “Kennedy” Catholic fools too. :-(

we didn’t get our info from the internet, we got it from one mouth to an ear
I have cop friends in Newark I was a Marine with, we had several talks today
people were paying attention
people were also hoping that the cabbies were just lying, but that in itself is a federal crime
we did get the medalion number of one and the cab number of another
the guy who reported the movement at PA was a Vietnam era Navy vet
credible
however, with some reports of a homeland security training exercise (How convienient to be the same day as the cabbie threats) it could be coincidence
that wasn’t his observation, though, said they looked armed for bear and alert
I got the message around 1800 Eastern
So many missed signs and opportunities before 9/11.
I’m paying attention.
I always watch the cabbies...+
