UPDATED - ALERT - Frightening Text Messages Being Forwarded Around NY Jews January 2, 2009 3:00PM EST: [UPDATE BELOW] With the situation in Gaza deteriorating by the day, and anti-semitism rampant around the world, thousands of NY Jews were frightened upon receiving the following text message which has been going around on Friday afternoon:
“A Jewish woman gave a tip to a Muslim taxi driver and out of appreciation he warned her not to go to Manhattan next week Wednesday.”
YWN has reached out to high-ranking members of the NYPD, and have stated that although they received the same text message, “there are no credible threats to be concerned about - and don’t even know where this text message originated from”.
The only message that they do have for the public is the same message that they have been saying since 9/11. That message is “always be aware of your surroundings, be vigilant, and if you see anything suspicious contact the police department immediately to report what you have seen”.
UPDATE 3:50PM EST: YWN has just spoken with NYS Assemblyman Dov Hikind who tells us that he has received various reports regarding this ‘threat’ and has personally contacted the FBI who is currently investigating them.
He thanked YWN for our alert to calm the public, and echoed the call for calm and vigilance at anytime and any location. “If you see something, say something,” Hikind said.
“The FBI and the NYPD take these types of threats very seriously, and investigate them thoroughly to ensure the safety of the public.”
May Hashem protect us from no harm - no matter where in the world we are located.

He can call them at any time and use first names and ask how the kids are doing and get straight answers
I have been on this site long enough that I shouldn’t have to drop names to prove I didn’t make this up
But, like people have said earlier: this site has lost intellectual power, it has become filled with simple minded persons who lack critical thinking and sit on the sidelines instead of actually act and respond to the events we sponsored and then act like they could have done it better, despite the fact we’ve been doing this for over 10 years now, nationally, have friends within the national media who not only read our e-mails but use our tips on national syndicated shows, like FOX Business (One of my past e-mails from last summer was a story’s source)
Ya know, of all the naysayers on this thread, have ANY of them attended a Freep anywhere?

So, ignorant people shoot down clear statements of direct evidence, received personnaly from mouth to ear, and somehow, by completly disregarding those facts, claim it “is an internet rumor”
and when I use CAPS to emphasis a point that needs to be remembered as fact or the basis for a fact, they react emotionally and call that shouting.

All I did was report a legitimate threat. One that we confirmed today with the NYPD as being taken seriously, and also at JTTF personnel.

There are actually a couple of people who have a master list.... When they are confronted they leave and use another name....
One name was working 24/7 and using several people to post...You could tell by the posting style. Once the technique is mentioned or the above link is produced they often back off....
Many have started using FR_mail to communicate instead of posting their ideas on public sight....Drives em crazy.

The thread is real information by RB, and I’ll be praying for a safe day for everyone tomorrow and the days after. However, there are certain people who have tried to wreck the dialogue. Why? probably - to mess up what is good at FR.

The link you provided really has nothing to do with Homeland Security, despite their web address, and the “Warning to Jewish Centers” is a just a vague, general warning that terrorists may strike around the world and perhaps in North America. This seems to contradict the warning being discussed here.
I recall FFNJ requesting that his account be removed during one of the big FR exoduses. Maybe around the time the Giuliani shindig was at full pace.
I wish he’d come back.
