UPDATED - ALERT - Frightening Text Messages Being Forwarded Around NY Jews January 2, 2009 3:00PM EST: [UPDATE BELOW] With the situation in Gaza deteriorating by the day, and anti-semitism rampant around the world, thousands of NY Jews were frightened upon receiving the following text message which has been going around on Friday afternoon:
“A Jewish woman gave a tip to a Muslim taxi driver and out of appreciation he warned her not to go to Manhattan next week Wednesday.”
YWN has reached out to high-ranking members of the NYPD, and have stated that although they received the same text message, “there are no credible threats to be concerned about - and don’t even know where this text message originated from”.
The only message that they do have for the public is the same message that they have been saying since 9/11. That message is “always be aware of your surroundings, be vigilant, and if you see anything suspicious contact the police department immediately to report what you have seen”.
UPDATE 3:50PM EST: YWN has just spoken with NYS Assemblyman Dov Hikind who tells us that he has received various reports regarding this ‘threat’ and has personally contacted the FBI who is currently investigating them.
He thanked YWN for our alert to calm the public, and echoed the call for calm and vigilance at anytime and any location. “If you see something, say something,” Hikind said.
“The FBI and the NYPD take these types of threats very seriously, and investigate them thoroughly to ensure the safety of the public.”

Don’t let science and facts get in the way...
Take an empty plastic water bottle, one that you bought from a store, drank and now it’s empty.
Fill it with water from your tap, screw the top back on and let it sit for 7-10 days.
Observe the results. Open it and drink it.
You’ll notice that it’s quite the same as water fresh from your tap.
This is because our tap water has chlorine in it.
For the water to go ‘bad’ because of bacterial contamination it needs:
at least 10exp3 viable bacterial colonies...
Bacteria need a food source, carbohydrates like some form of sugar and then they need other trace elements to reproduce like potassium, phosporus, calcium, iron, nitrogen and sulfur...to make proteins and so forth...
If NYC goes up in a puff of smoke, then you’ll be happy to have whatever water is left...

If the muzzie cab drivers are aware of an imminent threat directed at New Yorkers and they aren't reporting it to the authorities then aren't they guilty criminal conspiracy of at the least negligence?
The drivers and their cabs are easily identified. How hard can it be to round a few of those who have made these comments and do a little interrogating?. There must be dozens, if not hundreds, of cops in NYC who could get to the bottom of this in a few hours.
It’s not DU to say that hysterical rumors are just that. Actually, DU thrives on hysterical rumors, but I don’t think we should do the same.
