A sanctuary at Johnston Island will no doubt be used, by the greenies, to shut down ICBM testing.

We don’t hear much about the Mariana Islands since Abramoff went to the pokey. He and Grover Norquist were big lobbyists stopping any labor improvements there so they could keep cheap labor/trade agreements, but the goods are labeled made in USA.
So, who profits by getting this protected marine area....wonder if Grover’s environmental group lobbied for it.

The one off Hawaii is yielding sustainable catches of fresh fish for the sushi market in America.
We need to begin game management practices on the fish of the world, the last unregulated hunt.
Were I foolish enough to assume things then I'd assume we already claim fishing rights in these places as we do about our coastlines.
In the Hawaii reserve, they have limited the method of catch to charter line fishing. It has resulted in a prime charter fishery with the catch being flash frozen and flown for the sushi market. Maximum dollar for the fish and limited take protecting the breeding stock.
Sounds good. My impulse goes against regulation but I haven't seen any reasonable alternatives where it comes to what we call the commons.
In the Virgin Islands where I’m from they have an island off St. Croix called Buck Island which is a marine sanctuary. One afternoon just off the island next to the reef, tourists from a tour boat were snorkeling the reef and when they came close to the boat, my girlfriend and I threw bread crumbs into the water close to a snorkeler and he was instantly covered with snapper & silver fish as they fed on the bread as if they were piranha. That was back in 1986.
There is already a marine sanctuary established at 29 Palms.

Why didn’t Norquist get stung in the Abramoff scandle? They’ve been buddies since college.
“Why didnt Norquist get stung in the Abramoff scandle? Theyve been buddies since college.”
Lots of people have asked that question, wolfcreek. I have no answer except Norquist seems to skate no matter what.
